Posted Breed: Boxer / Pointer / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Trinity GAP Club (trinitygapclub@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Some pets are in the Shelter and others in Foster homes. Scroll thru description for contact info!! Or you may email trinitygapclub@gmail.com for pet info! Regan has adjusted VERY well since being here. He just wants to be loved. After spending many weeks in a kennel, I took the chance that Regan just needed to burn off a LOT of pent up energy. Many people judged him as being aggressive, but I felt the only thing wrong with Regan was he needed to be active. Sure enough, I introduced him to our small pack, and he became a completely different dog. Regan's age and breed cries out for activity. It didn't take long at all for him to warm up to our dogs, and began playing with them. He will chase a ball for as long as you will throw it. His perfect home would have another medium to large dog that will play with him, and a doggie door. He does not like cats. I sincerely believe with the right trainer/training, this sweet boy can learn ANYTHING. I am very impressed with him. Someone is going to end up with a GREAT dog. Needs a home with another dog as he is very playful and loves canine companionship!! He is not kennel/crate trained, but IS doggie door trained. (Regan is not good with cats so should be in a No Cat Home!! Also no birds!! Brings out the Pointer instincts in him!!) I am available to any and all questions!! Contact Bill at youcalltheshots@me.com (Cutest video EVER-- please watch!!) If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

He maybe a pug/beagle/doxie mix. Don't let his age deter you from reading more. He still has a lot of spunk. Tucker was owner surrendered because he growled at the grandkids, so a home with small children is not ideal. However when he came to the shelter he was not feeling well. After a visit to the vet it was determined Tucker had an infection. Once he was on antibiotics he felt so much better. Tucker has also lost a few pounds. He loves to go on walks. Due to his personality Tucker would be best to be an only dog or with a very calm dog. He would be a great dog for an older couple or an apartment dog. Contact foster mom Desiree at desireelcarter@hotmail.com for more information! Lorrie has spent much of her young life as a puppy in a shelter. She came from the Carrollton shelter to the Euless shelter, only to find that it was very crowded, too. Her pictures do not do justice to this very special little puppy. When her ears are up, she is so super cute, but today, she was too scared to put them up for the camera. Sadly, she was shaking in her kennel, and it was so heartbreaking to think this is what she has known for most of her short life. She appears to only be around four months old, and currently weighs around 25 pounds. She is so loving and shy, but we think she is going to be a social butterfly when she gets into a foster or fur-ever home. She appears to be a terrier mix, and we think may grow to be a medium size dog around 40 pounds. If you are thinking of fostering or adopting, please take time to meet Lorrie today. The name’s Elliott and the shelter volunteers estimate me to be a 2 year old male Hound/Shepherd blend. I was picked up as a stray by the animal control officers after someone saw me running loose. I like to play with other dogs and humans alike. I need some help on my leash manners but that’s only because no one has shown me the right way. Elliott is neutered and vaccinated! Scroll thru description for contact info!! Or you may email trinitygapclub@gmail.com for pet info! Magnificent Millie is one good looking babe! She is just a happy dog, and does her happy dance every time you take her for a walk. She is absolutely 100% potty trained and after she goes potty, she does a little dance saying "I am a good girl!" She adores people, and loves to get belly rubs. She is totally kennel trained, and not a chewer. She enjoys treats and rawhide chews, but knows what is hers. Millie is five year old boxer mix, and really in the prime of her life with her best years ahead of her. Miss Millie needs to be an only dog, although she did live with a companion dog in her former home, she does not really enjoy the company of other dogs. As a puppy, Millie was attacked by a sibling, so she is cautious around other dogs, and we recommend her being the only princess in the house. Millie is boarding at Mutt Shack until she finds her new forever home, and is totally vetted, heartworm negative and up to date on shots. Some pets are in the Shelter and others in Foster homes. Scroll thru description for contact info!! Or you may email trinitygapclub@gmail.com for pet info! Shani is a purebred chocolate lab who has had a very sad life. She was rescued as a young adult four years ago from California and came to Texas with her new adopted mom. Sadly, she was then left with relatives who did not really want Shani, so she was left in the backyard without much attention. This summer Shani developed a bad skin infection from fleas. She owners actually took her to the shelter to be put down, but they forgot their driver's license, so they had to take her back home. Fate intervened and a friend who loved Shani contacted us about rescuing her. We contacted a lab advocate who agreed to sponsor her, and GAP took her into our rescue. Shani is now deemed healthy, Heartworm negative, and up to a date on vaccinations. She walks well on a a leash, is potty trained, and loves to play ball. She does great with females, but is initially a little scared of males until she gets to know them. This is probably because there has been some abuse in her past. We are hoping that the future is much better for this give year old beauty. If you are interested in meeting Shani, contact info@muttshacktx.com and ask for Steffenie. Some pets are in the Shelter and others in Foster homes. Scroll thru description for contact info!! Or you may email trinitygapclub@gmail.com for pet info! Sweet Elsa had a rough start in life and was let down several time by several people. She was severely burned on her private area as a young puppy. After coming to rescue and getting the treatment she needed she was adopted a few times and was not given the attention or time that she needed and now has lasting issues but has been with me as my foster for 8 months and has come so far. She is a great dog and loves people very much. She is great with kids as well! She is house trained and crate trained and loves to cuddle. However she can be dog reactive and has been in training for her dog aggression and is doing so great. She does great with my dogs and fosters after she takes time to get use to them. Elsa would do best in a home as an only pet or with someone that can give her time to adjust to the existing pets and knows how to do proper dog introductions. Elsa can jump a six foot wooden fence so she must be monitored when in the backyard or needs an 8 foot fence. She does not go over my fence anymore now that i always have the e-collar on her in the backyard. She responds really well to the e-collar. Elsa is about 3 years old now and weighs about 50 lbs. She is so sweet and does not deserve anything that life has dealt her. She needs a true forever home that will love her as family and give her the attention and care she so deserves. Radar is a sweet lovable girl who is about 2-3 years old. She was a rescue dog found in a home with over 50 additional animals all in kennels. Radar was in deplorable conditions and was stabbed with a knife by her owner before she was rescued. She is extremely loyal and affectionate once she is comfortable with you. She does great with other doggies. Uncertain about little humans because she tends to be skittish from previous abuse and needs gentle attention. She is scared of men with deep voices and is scared by shouting. She thrives around women and soft spoken males. The only behavior issue we have is her running away when she is home with my adult son. He has a loud voice and she will not go near him when I am not there, however she will happily sit on his lap and approach him for treats while I am home. While we love her very much our goal is to find her a home where she is completely comfortable and happy. She is fixed and a healthy dog. She does require toys to chew and play with or she will chew. Rosie #15437 - Little Rosie is 50 lbs of energy. Just over 3 years, spayed, vaccinated and Heartworm negative! She is all muscle and a very sweet girl. However, she is also very protective, and if she hears a strange sound, she will let you know about it. She is currently being fostered by a family with other dogs, and gets along with them just fine. She even plays with one of the other dogs that is twice her size, and will run circles around him. She enjoys walks on a leash and rides in a car/truck. I'm not sure that I would recommend her in a home with a wooden privacy fence, though. When she hears, or sees, something on the other side, she will do what is necessary to get to it, including chewing through it. Her perfect home would be with someone that is there most of the time. She enjoys being outside (especially if there are squirrels present), but also enjoys laying beside her human companion and getting a good belly rub.
