Posted Breed: Boxer / American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). This dog is located and fostered in Crossville, Tennessee. SPONSORED (FREE) ADOPTION TO APPROVED HOME!! Weighing about 60 pounds, Drambuie, a beautiful, likely Boxer/American Pit Bull Terrier mix (it's a guess), grabs attention with his rich mahogany brindle and white coat, adorable underbite, and eagerness to learn. Almost five years old, "Buie" is boarding in an indoor/outdoor rescue kennel in Crossville (TN). He gets along great with people (though is probably a bit rowdy for small children), has very high energy, needs lots of exercise, and plays hard with some dogs (may not be friendly with others). We would suggest he be the only family pet (no other dogs or cats). He loves to splash in his wading pool, runs full steam ahead for the pure joy of running (fenced yard required), and delights in games of fetch and tug-of-war (he's learning to "release" and practicing 30+ other obedience and trick skills, including heel, sit, down, stay, shake hands, spin, catch, "find it", and beg). He has been fully vetted, vaccinated, microchipped, and is on preventives for fleas, ticks, heart worms and other internal parasites. Great in a car (no whining or pacing), he is crate-, house-, and leash-trained; and he's a gentleman for the vet. His food- and praise-motivation makes him a special delight to work with. Buie is looking for a family to love, train and play with him. Since his ancestry is of such a strong breed, continuation of training is a must. Will you give this exuberant adult a chance at a sunny future? If your family has experience with strong breeds and a love for the high-energy, fast-learning temperament, Buie is your boy! If you are interested in this pet but have questions that are not answered here, please fill out our Pet Inquiry Form: http://aarf-tn.com/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. The first step to adopting is to complete our online Adoption Application: http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide, so distance is not a problem in most areas. We have a variety of transportation options to bring your new family member to you. Typical transport cost to the northeast is $150, but may be less depending on your location (Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA residents.) How To Adopt | Adoption Application | Pet Inquiry Form | Long Distance Adoptions A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Adoption donations vary and are subject to change without notice. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for feline leukemia and FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Peggy is a 10 week old Australian Shepherd / Beagle mix who weighs about 12 pounds, and is ready to jump right into her forever home with you and yours. Posted Breed: Corgi / Australian Kelpie / Mixed (medium coat). This dog is located in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $175 in TN, $225 plus transportation fee for out of state adoptions. Our guy Sylas seems serious, but he is the silliest super duper smiling dog around! He is a 40 pound, 2 year old, Corgi/Australian Kelpie cross and sure is one handsome hound. Sylas had a dislocated leg, and we were successful in raising all the funds needed for him to have his FHO surgery and he has been recovering wonderfully ever since with his foster family. Sylas smiles when he gets excited to see you, and wrinkles up his nose and shows off a toothy grin, which is not only adorable but gives him so much charm and enduring character. He is a terrific dog, his foster mom tells us, and enjoys his playtime with toys and fur foster siblings, canine and feline alike. Sylas also does very well inside the house and is a quiet-natured boy. He will also come crate trained, and waits at the door when ready to go out and do his business. Sylas will need to adjust to his new quarters, but we don't think it will take long until he is cuddled up with you on the couch. He prefers to be a homebody as he doesn't enjoy going for rides in the vehicle. Sylas' muscle tone in his newly relocated leg is certainly a little lacking, but with time we think he may regain some activity level in it, however it may likely never be perfect, which doesn't bother him one tiny bit! If you are ready to be best friends or Valentine's with our guy Sylas, we can assure you he is ready shine his million dollar smile! Apply to adopt sweet Sylas today! He is an 11 month old, 31 pound Labrador mix who is full of life and is looking for a new forever family! Macs is a great, friendly young dog who would be best with an active family who enjoys playtime outside and can take him on walks. He loves to play fetch and go on long leash walks.
