Posted Breed: Boxer / American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). MEET HANNAH --- (CHECK OUT HER VIDEO) Hannah would be a great family pet - Submissive personality and LOVES kids. She is a BIG puppy - loves to get in your lap and give slobbery kisses. She is such a goof. She is about 6 years old and full grown at about 60 lbs. Well, actually she has gained a little bit of weight and is currently on a diet to get back down to 60 lbs.) She is up to date on shots, has been spayed and micro-chipped and is living in a foster home in Ft. Lauderdale. We enrolled her in a training class and her foster mom takes her on daily walks through the neighborhood. Housebroken, couch potato, crate trained, walks well on a leash -- GREAT COMPANION. She is simply delightful! Gets along very well with kids, including young squealing ones... and loves MOST other dogs (except small in-your-face types) but the introduction to the new dog must be gradual. She does not do well with dogs who try to be dominant over her -- OR -- with small dogs or cats of any size. She has a delightful personality and very deserving of a new loving forever home. Interested parties should email us for an application to adopt: info@gratefulpaws.org A nominal adoption fee of $150 will apply but the fee could be waived for the right home. NOTE: Adoption fees are applied towards the vet bill: exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next pet - who had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.

More About Bulloxer Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: English Bulldog (short coat). MEET FRANKIE- Frankie was originally an owner surrender who got caught living in a no-pet apartment. He was quickly adopted into a new home 5 months ago -- and we've just learned that it isn't working out - his human recently had a heart attack and Frankie has become very protective of his owner and starting trouble with the other dogs in the house. Since he was the newest addition to the family, Frankie was the one to leave. :( His ideal home would be where he is the ONLY dog. He's about 5 years old, neutered, chipped, up to date on all vaccines, housebroken and loves people. What a personality...! Five months ago he was at a healthy 75 lbs. but since then, he has gained a tremendous amount of weight (30 lbs.) and is now on a strict diet to get those excess pounds off him. He has just come back into our care and is living in a foster home in Fort Lauderdale but there is no reason why he can't lose those excess pounds in a new forever home. DOWNLOAD AN APPLICATION NOW! Posted Breed: Cairn Terrier (short coat). ***COURTESY LISTING*** Brody is a AKC Registered Cairn Terrier whose owner has asked for assistance in re-homing him. He is "The Invisible Dog", doesn't bark in the house, never under foot, independent, very friendly, mouth open and smiley and wagging his tail ALL the time. He minds well and is very obedient. His worst trait is that he "marks" so a bell band would be a given. and if he had a choice, he would prefer to be in a home where his owner is home a lot. But there are just too many dogs in the house it isn't working out. Since Brody was the last to join, he is the one to be re-homed. We have learned that he does not like to be left alone for long periods of time. Brody is 8-9 years old, in excellent health, up to date on vaccines and micro-chipped. A nominal rehoming fee of $150 will apply. Please download an application from our website: www.gratefulpaws.org

We believe her to be have been a "breeding mama dog" who is a feisty, active 7 year old. She has since been spayed, brought up to date on vaccines and micro-chipped and has been given a clean bill of health from our Vet. She was just groomed and JUST visited our Vet to be brought up to date on vaccines. etc. Foster mom says she is real sweet - and loves to cuddle. But she can be a little bossy, so we are thinking she might be happiest in a home where she is the only dog. Not sure yet, maybe it depends on the other dog in the house. He is in excellent health - no vision or mobility issues and is not on any meds or special food. He loves to be with people. Does not like to be confined or crated and will happily snooze on floor next to you. He gets along fabulously with other dogs - big and small. He can be vocal when it's time to eat, when he's excited or when he wants to play! Picked up as a stray a couple weeks ago (no chip) and an owner hasn't surfaced. He's a wire-haired terrier of some flavor - Cairn - Westie? (we have no clue). He is probably about 5 years old - and full grown at 12 lbs. He is dog AND cat friendly, actually likes cats better than other dogs... walks well on a leash and is housebroken. He had his vet visit and it was reported that he is heartworm positive. NO BIGGIEs - it's not a death sentence because it IS treatable and once his treatment is complete, he will be as good as new! There is no reason he cannot be placed in a new forever home while he is being treated -- but the hitch is that he MUST be able to see our Vet in Broward County for his 2-3 treatments and follow-up visits - OUR DIME of course. CHARLIE

      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Spaniel / Mixed (medium coat). MEET CHARLIE--- Charlie was adopted from a high-kill shelter about a year ago -- but the home he went to was far more social and active than the life he'd been used to. Neither he or his human were happy, so she made the selfless decision to find a home for Charlie that is quieter where he won't be as stressed at new circumstances. Charlie bonds very closely with his owner, showing great affection whenever the owner is present. But he is apprehensive, barky and insecure when meeting new people. He gets stressed at new stuff - and he reacts by barking and threatening to "bite". He hasn't bitten yet and we watch him closely and don't place him in a position where he might! We have consulted a trainer and we are working on positive reinforcement when introduced to new people -- and... he has made progress. BUT he is still a work in progress and a patient dog savvy owner would be his ideal home. We have determined that he does BEST in a home with another dog or dogs--- He doesn't do as well (barks more) when he is the only child. He loves to be in your lap and loves to give kisses... He is 100% housebroken and is really a sweet little man with a couple quirks. eg. in the morning when it's time to get out of bed and got outside to go potty, he walks behind me and love-nips me in the butt! (so maybe I can walk faster?) He is a funny little dog. A strong calm, alpha owner (preferably would be best for this guy. He really is sweet and affectionate but we need to convince him that he is safe! He loves to play ball and brings it back!! He is about 3 years old - neutered, up to date on all vaccines - micro-chipped - a spaniel -- perhaps a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix, housebroken, does not mark - dog friendly (no cats and probably no kids). He is full grown at about 20 lbs. and really is a nice little guy (once he decides he likes you (generally takes 2-3 days -- and THEN he is your new BEST FRIEND!). He will be re-homed to the immediate area (Broward/Dade/Palm Beach counties) only. Re-homing fee: $200 DOWNLOAD OUR APPLICATION: www.gratefulpaws.org. Click on ADOPT - at the bottom of that page you will find our application. NOTE: Adoption/rehoming fees are applied towards the vet bill: Exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip.
