Posted Breed: Boxer / American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). MEET HANNAH --- (CHECK OUT HER VIDEO) Hannah would be a great family pet - Submissive personality and LOVES kids. She is a BIG puppy - loves to get in your lap and give slobbery kisses. She is such a goof. She is about 6 years old and full grown at about 60 lbs. Well, actually she has gained a little bit of weight and is currently on a diet to get back down to 60 lbs.) She is up to date on shots, has been spayed and micro-chipped and is living in a foster home in Ft. Lauderdale. We enrolled her in a training class and her foster mom takes her on daily walks through the neighborhood. Housebroken, couch potato, crate trained, walks well on a leash -- GREAT COMPANION. She is simply delightful! Gets along very well with kids, including young squealing ones... and loves MOST other dogs (except small in-your-face types) but the introduction to the new dog must be gradual. She does not do well with dogs who try to be dominant over her -- OR -- with small dogs or cats of any size. She has a delightful personality and very deserving of a new loving forever home. Interested parties should email us for an application to adopt: info@gratefulpaws.org A nominal adoption fee of $150 will apply but the fee could be waived for the right home. NOTE: Adoption fees are applied towards the vet bill: exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next pet - who had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.

More About Bulloxer Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      CHARLIE

Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Posted Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel / Mixed (medium coat). MEET CHARLIE--- Charlie was adopted from a high-kill shelter about a year ago -- but the home he went to was far more social and active than the life he'd been used to - So, his human has made the selfless decision to find a home for Charlie that is quieter where he won't be as stressed at new circumstances. Charlie bonds very closely with his owners, showing great affection whenever in the owner's presence, but is apprehensive and insecure when meeting new people. He is pretty much a "Nervous Nellie" and although he has never nipped or bitten, after he gets barky and snarly, he calms down. He is about 3 years old - a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix, housebroken, does not mark - dog friendly (no cats and probably no kids). He is full grown at about 20 lbs. and really is a nice little guy. Re-homing fee: $150 Please email for an application: info@gratefulpaws.org NOTE: Adoption/rehoming fees are applied towards the vet bill: Exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.

Posted Breed: Toy Fox Terrier / Mixed (short coat). This waif was picked up as a stray in Pembroke Pines and an owner never surfaced. She is a tiny little thing – 6 lbs. about 2 years old, a Toy Fox or Rat Terrier and adjusting well to her new foster home. She has seen our Vet and has been given her vaccines, worming and has been spayed & chipped. She was not socialized as she should have been as she is frightened when she meets strangers or new circumstances. Her fear makes her a little growley - but she's all bark and no bite! Five minutes after you meet her, she is your new BFF...and she loves to give kisses and snuggle... She enjoys her toys and likes kissing, grooming and playing with with dogs her size. If you or someone you know (who has time and patience) is interested in a small but feisty companion, please email for an application. Rehoming fee: $300 Please email for an application: info@gratefulpaws.org NOTE: Adoption fees are applied towards the vet bill: Exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.

Posted Breed: Terrier / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). THIS IS MICHELLE~~~ This baby girl is an owner surrender - just about a year old and full grown at 26 lbs. We have NO CLUE as to her breed - Her body frame is long & thin - like a Greyhound or a whippet -- How about Toy Labrador? Or maybe a "Standard Chihuahua" with long legs? She is sweet as can be - her foster mom says she is a polite eater, and rides well in the car! She saw our Vet today and has been blood tested, vaccinated, chipped and spayed - and will be at our upcoming adoption events. Sweet little lady. Adoption fee $250 Please email for an application: info@gratefulpaws.org NOTE: Adoption/rehoming fees are applied towards the vet bill: Exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. Posted Breed: Pomeranian / Chihuahua / Mixed (medium coat). THIS IS FOXY BELLA... (perfect family pet) Her owners moved into a place that does not allow pets, so Grateful Paws was asked to find this baby girl a new home. She is about a year old, full grown at 10 lbs. and looks like a little RED FOX! We are advised she is a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix who gets along well with other dogs, cats and children of all ages! She has seen our Vet tomorrow and has been spayed, micro-chipped, examined and brought up to date on vaccines. Her ideal home would be with an active person or family - She is still a puppy and very active. She is in great health - very curious and is waiting for her forever home. Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Posted Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). MEET LEXI-- (Check out her video) Yes - this is the dog who was SHOT in the leg and left for dead in Hollywood, FL. A Good Sam saw her and brought her to the hospital and Grateful Paws was asked to step up and try to help raise funds for her vet bill--AND-- find her a new forever home. SHE IS DOING GREAT! She is in a foster home with a couple other bully breeds and is happy, sweet and trying very hard to be better socialized. But she does like to play rough! She is now about a year old, still a puppy, playful and very people friendly. A basic obedience class with a trainer would be helpful... We believe she had been a "yard dog", so she is learning how to greet new dogs. Her leg has totally healed and she doesn't even walk with a limp! They saved her leg without surgery - with daily sedation and frequent bandage and cast changes. And we are looking for an ADOPTIVE home for her. Her ideal home would be where she could be the only dog - and with an physically active family who can tire her out. Because of her life as a yard-dog prior to coming into our care, she had not been socialized with other dogs as she should have been, so she is re-active when meeting other dogs. We are working on it that behavior - but for now, an only dog home would be best. If interested in adopting/fostering, please email for an application: info@gratefulpaws.org An adoption fee of $150 will apply. NOTE: Adoption fees are applied towards the vet bill: Exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.

      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Posted Breed: Chinese Crested-Hairless (short coat). UPDATE: Her ear surgery has been postponed for a cople weeks to give us time to clean up a minor skin infection. MEET MONA (before/after pictures say it all...) This baby girl was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Dade County about a year and a half ago as one hot mess. We presume her to be about 7 years old (very hard to tell - her teeth are actually in pretty good condition...) She was a puppy mill mama dog, and when her litters diminished, they dumped her. Her skin looked like elephant hide, and her eyes and ears were nasty. She has been fully vetted; bathed, scraped, vaccinated, is being treated for heartworm and is living in a foster home with several other small dogs. She does require eye drops DAILY as she does have dry eye and she does suffer from occasional ear infections. She doesn't LIKE to be groomed, but she is getting better with the process. She is a Hairless Chinese Crested who has NEVER been cared for - until she came into our care. Her skin is 95% better now than it was when she came to us. She has been spayed and microchipped and has had 2 eye surgeries. She is very sweet - loves playing with her ball, and being near her human... and gets excited when she sees kids! -dog friendly & housebroken. Adoption fee $150

Posted Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). MEET GINGER She is a 1 1/2 year old Hound/Shepherd mix who is full grown at about 60 lbs. - people and cat friendly - but is suddenly deciding she doesn't like all dogs. She was adopted from us when she was about 5 months old and has been living in a private home with another dog and a couple cats! She is friendly, housebroken, well behaved when left alone, crate trained and an all around great companion. -- BUT - she developed a dislike for her canine brother, so Grateful Paws has been asked to find her a new home where she doesn't have to share her owners. Her ideal home would be where she can be the only dog. She is up to date on vaccines, has been spayed and micro-chipped and is waiting to hear from you! He was picked up as a stray and was being cared for by folks who were not allowed to have a dog - so Grateful Paws was asked to find him a new forever home. He's neutered, vaccinated, blood tested and chipped now and he is simply DELIGHTFUL! A gentle guy - laid back... We figure he is about 8-9 years old, a beagle/whatever mix - and in pretty good health! He is dog friendly, well behaved when left home alone, and just wants to be your companion. He has never been taught how to walk on a leash, so a fenced yard for potty breaks will be OK for him. A nominal adoption fee will apply $100.
