Posted Breed: Feist / Chihuahua / Mixed (medium coat). Rosalee is a beautiful buff colored girl with a medium coat. She’s a quiet girl who is looking for a quiet home with adults who enjoy daily walks and a warm lap to call her own. Rosalee is well mannered, crate and leash trained, and gets along well with other dogs and cats. Because Rosalee is so quiet, she prefers a home without small kids but anyone over the age of 12 is fine. Rosalee walks well on a leash, loves car rides, and prefers to sleep with her mother and person but will go anywhere you ask her. Rosalee will take some time to warm up to her new family, but if you give her time and lots of treats she will become your very best friend. She is looking for a home with her mother Chrissy. Rosalee is looking for a new home due to no fault of her own. Her family is not home enough to give her the time she needs. She is 5 years old and weighs 25#. If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

    • Mastiff-Saint Bernard Mix Dog For Adoption in Battle Ground, WA, USA

      Bruin

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Mastiff-Saint Bernard Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Mastiff / Saint Bernard / Mixed (short coat). Bruin is a real sweetheart but can be a little territorial at times and needs some work with socializing. Due to a neighborhood family who teased him with their small child (they would hang the kid over the fence and then get after him when he tried to play with the “toy”) it is recommended that he not be placed where there are small children as he is afraid of them. If you have room for this guy in your home (yes, your home - he’s not an outside dog) and are interested in meeting him please fill out an application. He does need a fenced yard and a home without cats or pushy male dogs. He is up to date on his shots and is an easy keeper - he likes to stay by your side and lean on you. He is 4 years old and weighs 157#.

      Elliot

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Chihuahua
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Elliot is a 3 year old neutered male Chihuahua who is looking for his forever family. He is almost 5 lbs and needs to gain a little weight. Elliot is a very loving dog and like a typical Chihuahua he needs to be a lap dog. He always wants to be with his person. Elliot is not an apartment dog as he can be vocal when left alone or put in a crate. Elliot is working on his potty training and will soon be an expert with continued training. He has very thin fur in some areas and absolutely needs to wear a coat in the winter and sunscreen in the summer if outdoors. Elliot loves going for car rides and he will protect you from the windshield wipers, it is the cutest thing! Elliot is looking for a home without small children as he likes to be handled with care and too much excitement scares him. Elliot is microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Please fill out a full application at www.sccpets.com if you would like to meet little Elliot.

      Oliver

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Lhasa-Poo
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Lhasa Apso / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (long coat). Oliver is a handsome guy - he is sweet and playful once he gets to know you. He is house trained but not crate trained and he is used to sleeping with his owners. We do ask that he have a fenced yard as he is used to that and wouldn’t really be happy with just going out on a leash a few times a day. He gets along well with other dogs and would enjoy chasing a cat or two so a cat-free home would be best. He is okay with children but doesn’t live with little ones. His family will miss him but are moving to an area where he is not allowed to go so they are looking for a new family for him. He is 10 years old and weighs 19#. If you think you are the ones for him please fill out an application on our website.

      Kermit

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Australian Shepherd
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd (medium coat). Kermit’s mom is very upset that she has to re-home him but for the sake of the cats in the house, she has to do it. Try as they will, he just can’t seem to ignore the cats long enough to have it work out. He’s had extensive training and knows many commands and would make a great agility dog for someone who DOESN’T HAVE CATS OR ANY OTHER ANIMALS. He is also very reactive to other dogs so it is recommended that he be an only child. Not sure how he would do with young children but lives with, and does well with, older children. We suspect he would try to herd smaller children so a home without cats and little ones would be the best bet. As is typical of his breed, he is very high energy. He is a beautiful dog and will make someone who has the time to work with him a wonderful pet. If you would like to meet him please fill out an application on our website. He is 1 1/2 years old and weighs 45#.
