When inquiring about an animal, please reference the animal’s ID number. This will enable the volunteer or Baldwin Park employee to locate the status of the pet. Thank you for supporting rescue. Pet Information CONTACT: Ambrosha Andrews at ambrosiandrews@gmail.com Description: Hello, My name is Ginger! I am an 8 - year old spayed Doberman mix and because of my special breed, I am the sweetest girl you will ever meet! A ll I want to do is steal your stuffed animals until you chase me and let me win! I also love to bob for ice cubes! My mom cannot keep me. She had to sell our home, and I need a new home by Nov. 3, 2015 . I've been very loved my whole life and don't want to end up at a shelter. My eyes are both green and blue, my coat is soft, shiny and healthy and I am potty trained and crate trained! I know how to behave myself on road trips and at the beach. You will love the soft nuzzles and kisses I plant on your cheeks and ears! Please check me out and let me know if you would like to give me a forever home. Love, Ginger

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      NORTON

      verified

      rescue
      Breed: Rottweiler-American Pit Bull Terrier
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: Pasadena, CA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Rottweiler / Mixed (short coat). NORTON is a COURTESY LISTING and an alum of our Shelter Support Program. Pet Information CONTACT: UHA ADOPTION COORDINATOR KATJA at katja@hope4animals.org or 951-973-2757. Norton is a fabulous 18-month-old grey-and-fawn male Pit Bull mix (who may be some amazing combination of Shar Pei, Rottweiler, and/or American Bully) who was rescued from a high-intake public shelter after his former owners abandoned him there. Weighing 61 pounds, Norton is as funny and delightful as a dog can be, and he makes friends wherever he goes. With his unique coloring and amazing physique, he also is a true head-turner. Norton is housebroken and crate-trained and knows how to sit on command; he will thrive in a household that is eager to continue working with him on more advanced obedience skills. In his foster home, Norton is living with happily with other dogs and he's a favorite at doggy daycare. Norton likes to be involved in household activities and is seeking a home where he will get plenty of attention and stimulation. Some of Norton's favorite activities include helping out in the kitchen, going on walks, playing with other dogs, chasing the water that comes out of hoses, and squeaking on squeaky toys. He has so many delightful features, including his incredibly soft fur (his coat feels like crushed velvet and is wonderful to pet!) and his happy snorting (which is why he is known as Snortin' Norton!). Although he looks like a muscle man, Norton is a softy at heart: at night, he cuddles up with one of his favorite stuffed toys to go to sleep. Norton will be an amazing indoor pet in an active household looking for a funny, adorable best pal to make a central part of everyday life. He's a true treasure and will do great in a home that appreciates and adores him, but doesn't let his awesomeness get to his head. ;) You can see more of Norton by following @katjamg7 on Instagram. Norton is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines. For more information on this pet, please contact adoption coordinator Katja at katja@hope4animals.org or 951-973-2757. Application, home check, and adoption fee apply.

Pet Information CONTACT: UHA ADOPTION COORDINATOR JANA AT 857-998-7970 OR AT jana@hope4animals.org Description: A5038784 Henry is a friendly, athletic 4-year-old white male Pit Bull and Dogo Argentino mix who entered the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on March 7th as a stray from West Covina. Weighing 75 lbs, Henry loves to give kisses, wants to exchange touches and be in contact with people, loves to think he’s a lap do g, and can’t stop his tail from wagging. He shows signs of being housebroken, has a medium energy, and passed his shelter-administered temperament test. He knows how to walk on leash, but will benefit from additional training so that he’s fully manageable. He is good with other dogs and can use some guidance there on how to be less exuberant in greeting them. We think Henry will do great in a household where he’ll be an indoor companion who will be a central part of everyday life. [Note: The shelter originally assigned Henry, who’s a male, a female name, Keisha. Don’t be surprised if this other name and some “she” references crop up in places!] HENRY’S VIDEO: https://youtu.be/ 06rgt0BOcEA For more information on this pet, contact volunteer UHA adoption coordinator Jana at 857-998-7970 or jana@hope4animals.org. — at County of Los Angeles - Baldwin Park Animal Care Center .

CONTACT: Katja at katja@hope4animals.org or 951-973-2757 MONKEY is a charming 11-month-old brindle-and-white neutered male Bull Terrier mix (probably crossed with some German Shepherd, Pit Bull, or some other magical breeds) who was rescued from a high intake public shelter. Weighing 55 lbs, Monkey is a playful and affectionate young fellow who really knows how to monkey around! He is a favorite at doggy day care, and would be delighted to continue to have an active social life with other dogs in his forever home. Monkey is accustomed to living in a home with cats and other large dogs. He walks politely on leash, is crate trained and housebroken, and knows many key commands having completed a basic obedience course. Monkey's favorite activities include being with his people, going on walks, playing with other dogs, chewing on Nylabones, cuddling, sunbathing, watching people cook, and eating. He has adorable markings and we think it's extra special that he has brown eyelashes on one eye and white eyelashes on the other. Monkey has a laid-back medium energy level, and is best suited to households with teenagers and adults only (we don't know why, but Monkey is uncomfortable around small children and while he responds well to training with this issue, at this time he will not be placed in a home with kids in residence under age 10). Monkey will thrive in a household that will continue to provide the structure and guidance for him to develop into the outstanding adult dog he is meant to be. He will do especially well in a home that has previously had large-breed dogs. Monkey is a loyal and loving pup who will bring a lot of fun and friendship into his forever home. Application, home check, and adoption fee are required. CONTACT Katja at katja@hope4animals.org or 951-973-2757 for more info and an application. SHELLEY -- 9-year-old spayed female Beagle/Lab mix Meet Shelley, a 9-years-young tan spayed female Beagle/Lab mix, who is looking for a new home, along with her sister Emily (a Pointer mix). Shelley and Emily have lived with the same family since they were puppies, and both girls are gentle, companionable dogs who have grown up with children and cats. Shelley and Emily are used to living outside with their own dogloo shelters, and go on daily walks and hikes. They are easy to walk on leash around the neighborhood, and are good citizens on off-leash trail hikes. Shelley and Emily are easy-to-care for, affectionate pups. Shelley and Emily’s family is relocating overseas for work and the city has size restrictions for dogs. They feel that a new, loving, local home will be in the dogs’ best interest. It would be ideal to keep them together, as they are bonded best friends. Shelley and Emily each weigh about 40 pounds, and are healthy and up-to-date with vaccinations. For more information on Shelley and Emily, please contact Arthur at arthur.mazer@yahoo.com (preferred) or 626-302-3413. This is a courtesy posting for a family seeking to rehome their dogs.

I am about 18-months-old and I am a bluenose Pit Bull mix puppy. I am full of lots of puppy energy! I adore playing with other dogs and get very excited around playtime. I currently live with FIVE other doggies who are my best friends, and I am currently being trained how to control my energy level. When I go to my new home, I will need to continue to work with trainer so I can become the best canine citizen there is! I ride very well in the car and I am currently potty trained. I know how to listen to my foster mama and will only chew on appropriate toys. I walk very well on leash, and I also know many commands! I know how to "sit," "wait," "down," "leave it," "stay", and "easy." I also know how to "shake" and "roll over" (both ways!) I get along very well with older children and can respect younger children, but I probably shouldn't live with them since I might accidentally knock them over with my puppy energy and enthusiasm. I am spayed, up to date on shots and rabies, and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting me, please contact my foster mama, Heather, at obeachgirl@yahoo.com ZULI’S VIDEO: http://youtu.be/TG8v_y7MYpQ MORE PHOTOS OF ZULI: http://on.fb.me/1smmDe6
