    Breed: Chihuahua
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Umbrella of Hope "Be Our Pet" 1 yr old, 3 lb Chihuahua NEUTERED MALE for ADOPTION Meet Weedle! Weedle comes to us from San Jose Animal Care Center and San Jose Animal Advocates where he was cared for by Tails of a Shelter Vet Weedle is a 1 yr old, 3.5 lb Chihuahua. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is parasite free. He had an issue with his lower canine teeth hitting the roof of his mouth and causing pain and so they were removed (if he had been a human, he would have received orthodontics). This does not cause him any issues. Weedle is happy and loving and bouncy and kissy. He gets along well with other dogs and is smaller than most cats. Weedle is crate trained IF you are not in the vicinity. If he can see/hear you, he cries. If he cannot see/hear you, he goes to sleep. Weedle is working on his housebreaking and new families should be prepared for a learning curve. Weedle does well on the leash and in the car. If you are interested in adopting Weedle, please email us at beourpet@gmail.com and tell us why you would be the perfect home for him. GENERAL INFO: Housebroken?: Working on it Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: No Good with cats?: Yes, we think so Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: No Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 10 Umbrella of Hope is a non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals off death row from local shelters. We offer rebates of adoption fees after completion of obedience classes and CGC titles. Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet. Some of our senior animals have sponsorships for their food/vet care/medicine for the rest of their life at our vet in Pittsburg, CA (94565) Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service. Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Jack Russell Terrier (Parson Russell Terrier) / Mixed (short coat). Umbrella of Hope "Be Our Pet" 1 Male, 2 Female Chihuahua/Jack Russell/Min Pin (?) Mix Puppies accepting applications! ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS NOW -- puppies to go home mid-May. PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY *Adoption information for Kangaroo's puppies!* Round 1 ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS for KANGAROOS’S PUPPIES -- Please read carefully. We will NOT be accepting applications for specific puppies. On your application, please write “Kangaroos Puppy” for the NAME and NOT a specific name of a puppy. Since no one has met these puppies and only very vague descriptions of the puppies have been posted, a good home will have no idea which of the six puppies will best fit their household. UPDATE: May 15, 2017 -- 2 F and 1 M puppy are available for adoption If you submit an application with a name of a specific puppy, your application will be discarded and not considered (as looks should be the LAST thing considered when choosing which one is appropriate for your home). Puppies will be ready to go to their new homes in mid-May. We will give specific dates after the meet and greet and match up. They will be up to date on all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, microchipped and free of parasites. The adoption fee is $250 and can be paid in cash, by check or by credit card at the puppy pick up. We will absolutely NOT, for ANY reason, place puppies in homes together due to “Littermate Syndrome” (please google it). All six puppies will be going to individual homes with NO exceptions. All other pets in your home must be at least 1 year of age, current on vaccinations (or titers) and have been with your home for at least six months. We will prioritize placement into homes who have other well-trained, social dogs. ALL humans who will live in the household with the dog or visit at least weekly will be required to come to the meet and greet. All puppies are required to complete a basic obedience class and proof is required within 3 months of adoption. Adopters may choose to train the puppies themselves (instead of a formal class) and submit a video of the puppy doing 5 separate commands by the 3 month post-adoption date. Puppies were born in a foster home on Feb 3rd, 2017 when Kangaroos (the mom) was on a stray hold. They have been handled since birth by MULTIPLE people. They are social and friendly and have been socialized with many other dogs. They have visited a nursing home and spent time around wheelchairs, walkers and canes. They have been on many different surfaces, met many new people and have experienced many new things. They are being evaluated by a certified dog trainer who is guiding their foster family in socializing them to new people and things. The foster family has followed the "Puppy Rule of 12" linked below to assure that they are well exposed to their environment. https://www.longmonthumane.org/sites/default/files/media/attachments/Puppy_handoutfinal.pdf They were nursed by mom as well as were given Esbilac formula until they were 5 weeks old and then they have eaten a diet of nurtrient-rich Wellness Puppy, Wellness CORE Puppy and Royal Canin Baby Dog wet and dry food since then. They have had age appropriate vaccines and regular dewormings. They will be spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to going home mid-May. They are working on housetraining and are doing very well with a combination of puppy pads and going outside but you have to understand that you are adopting a BABY and much like you would not expect your infant to be housetrained upon coming home from the hospital, you need to be prepared for housebreaking your new puppy for several months. GENERAL INFO: Housebroken?: No, they are puppies. They are working on it, but you will have to train them Crate Trained?: Yes, as well as a puppy can be Leash Trained?: Working on it but not old enough for walks Rides Well in Car?: Yes in a crate Non-Shedding?: No Good with cats?: Yes Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: N0 Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of any age Umbrella of Hope is a non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals off death row from local shelters. Breed: Bocker

    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Cocker Spaniel / Beagle / Mixed (medium coat). Umbrella of Hope "Be Our Pet" 10 yr old, 17 lb Cocker Spaniel Mix SPAYED FEMALE for ADOPTION Meet Miss Grandma Mae Kibble Grandma Mae is named after Grandma Mae's Country Naturals Dog Food. Grandma Mae is a 10 yr old, 18 lb Cocker Spaniel, Beagle and Dachshund Mix SPAYED FEMALE. She was brought into our veterinary clinic as a stray found on a busy street near the clinic. Her microchip was registered to people with Colorado numbers and they did not answer or return calls from the vet team. We asked Fido Alert - East Contra Costa County to help us find anyone who knew what had happened to her but no one came forward. She was stinky, covered in fleas, missing over 1/2 of her hair, had the LONGEST toenails we had ever seen (pics in comments) and was scratching herself so much she was bleeding. She has dry-eye so bad that her eyeballs had scabs. She was starving and gulped down 4 bowls of food in less than 24 hours. Due to local stray laws, she was required to go to the shelter for a stray hold and CONTRA COSTA ANIMAL SERVICES started her medical treatment while they tried to track down an owner. It took over 10 days for the owner to respond and they said they had given her away previously and just wanted her euthanized so we were more than happy to go get her and bring her into our program. She is being fostered by a wonderful RVT who had previously fostered (and adopted) another one of our skin issue dogs -- Mighty Moe. She is on over a dozen different medications to try to ease her itching, soothe her skin and start the healing process. We hope she will be feeling better really soon so that we can get some lumps removed and her teeth cleaned. UPDATE 4/30/17: She has grown her hair back and is only on eyedrops and two other medicines every day which she will eventually not need in a month or two. Her lumps will be removed on 5/15/17 and she will then be available for adoption. She apparently loves "soft beds and cuddles" and has a huge appetite but takes food very gently. She already knows her name, follows her foster mom around and whines and jumps up to be petted. She is a beautiful soul and she deserves so much better than what she was given and we want to make sure she knows she is a princess. We are an ALL VOLUNTEER team and we need donations to be able to continue to provide this level of care to senior, special needs, medically needy, hospice, shy and plain animals who are at risk of euthanasia in shelters. Help us save more dogs like Grandma Mae. Posted Breed: Pug / Beagle / Mixed (short coat). Umbrella of Hope "Be Our Pet" 9 yr old, 27 lb Pug and Beagle Mix SPAYED FEMALE for ADOPTION Meet Miss Boka Kibble! Boka is named after Northpaw Nutrition's Boka Dog Food (http://www.bokapetfood.com/products/) Boka is a 9 yr old, 27 lb Pug and Beagle Mix SPAYED FEMALE. She is also microchipped, vaccinated, free of parasites and has had senior labwork, a dental cleaning, double cherry eye repair and two cysts removed. Boka comes to us from Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center & Urgent Care where she was surrendered for euthanasia. Bishop Ranch asked our rescue network to take her and we said YES! They were kind enough to donate her medical care (around $3000 worth!) and make sure she was ready to go to foster care. This dog is DELIGHTFUL! Boka knows several commands such as "sit" "down" and "speak" and is house-trained, leash-trained and crate-trained. Boka rides well in the car, loves other dogs, seems fine with cats and thinks kids are awesome. She also has a beautiful smile! Boka is a tad bit overweight and is on a diet kibble and exercise program (she should be 20-22 lbs). One of the fun things she likes to do is tricks for her kibble and she will turn on the charm for a "treat" Boka qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors program where people 55+ can adopt dogs 5+ for $5. Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Umbrella of Hope "Be Our Pet" Pinto is a 8 Year old, 6lb, Chihuahua, SPAYED Female For ADOPTION! Meet Miss Pinto Vroom! As of 10/24/15 Pinto is considered to be a hospice dog due to a pituitary tumor. She will be completing a bucket list and can be followed on Facebook with the hashtag #pintosbucketlist Pinto has been with us since July 2015 when she came to us with a healing abscess on her head that our wonderful friends at CONTRA COSTA ANIMAL SERVICES took care of for us by placing a drain. It was very slow to heal and as we were monitoring some unusual findings on her bloodwork over the next few months, we incidentally found out that she had developed Cushing's Disease (which is treatable/manageable). She was put on a diet to help her lose some weight because she was having some issues with her back legs. She also has had a snotty nose that would get better and then get worse after many rounds of antibiotics and a culture. Her right eye has also been bulged out and that did not get better after her abscess resolved. Putting all of these pieces together, our vet x-rayed her head and is pretty confident that she has a brain tumor on her pituitary gland that is growing pretty fast. We have entered her into our hospice program. She is now no longer on a diet and can eat whatever she likes. We will be monitoring her quality of life and making sure that every day counts and when she is no longer having good days, we will let her go. Right now she is happy, active and HUNGRY. She has now decided to end her life in the best way possible... By starting and COMPLETING a Bucket List. If you are local (SF Bay Area of CA) and want to take her on a date, please email us at beourpet@gmail.com. If you are not local, please consider taking a hospice dog from your local shelter or rescue and giving them an amazing sunset. Donations towards Pinto's care or her legacy program, can be mailed to Umbrella of Hope, c/o Well Pet Vet Clinic, 4040 Railroad Ave, Pittsburg, CA 94565 OR our paypal address is beourpet@gmail.com. We also have an Amazon Wish List. Our tax ID number is 45-4103375 and all donations are tax-deductible. (Pinto is from Contra Costa Animal Services) Pinto is a 8 Year old, 6lb, Chihuahua, SPAYED Female For ADOPTION! She is also microchipped, vaccinated and free of parasites! Pinto was dropped off in the night drop off box at Contra Costa Animal services, when the shelter workers found her she was scared and hurt. She had an ENORMOUS abscess on the right side of her forehead. They drained it (you could even see her skull underneath it, poor baby!) and set about fixing her, all through out this she behaved like a model citizen regardless of how hurt she was! Thanks to the amazing work by Contra Costa Animal services she is healing well. She currently has stents holding her sore bits open, she looks like she's going to make a fantastic recovery very soon and is going to be back to her vivacious self soon. (UPDATE; We are happy to annouce she's made an amazing recovery and is slowly growing back some fuzz around her old injury) She's got an amazing personality, she has the cutest bossy little bark if she wants attention but quickly stops if you give her the eye! She seems very independent but also a lover of cuddles! She loves lounging in the garden on the grass and if you're lucky she'll show you Her famous grass wiggle! She even gives kisses if you tell her she's pretty. She also knows how to sit and is great with other dogs! If you think Pinto is better off in your arms, email us at beourpet@gmail.com or fill in an application online! Welcome to UOH Pinto!
