Posted Breed: English Springer Spaniel (medium coat). Age: 10 years Gender: Male Color: Liver & White Weight: 47 lbs Variety: Field We would like to thank Angela Boone of Angela Boone Photography in Roseville, Minnesota for generously donating the photos of Jordy displayed here. Visit her website. Sweet Jordy was picked up by animal control as he was wandering in the country. Our best guess is that he is around ten or eleven years old. Jordy is a dear senior guy who is adjusting to the indoor life at his foster home and is enjoying it!Jordy gets along well with the foster family's resident small dogs, and he is learning to live with cats. He will back off quickly if they hiss and stand up to him. Jordy walks perfectly on leash and loves taking strolls, meeting the neighbors along the way. His favorite pastime is sniffing around the fenced yard, but in true Springer fashion, he loves following his person around, too. Because he can no longer hear and his peripheral vision is impaired, a home without children would be best for Jordy. He does well with hand signals and will Sit, Lie Down, and Stay. As he is deaf, he will need a securely fenced yard to keep him safe. Jordy is truly the sweetest of sweethearts, and he is so easy to have around. Do you have a soft place in your heart and your home for Jordy to spend his retirement years? He is being fostered in Baraboo, WI.Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager. Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Jordy. Contact: ESRA Case Managers, Ellie Starks and Rebecca

More About English Springer Spaniel Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: English Springer Spaniel. INTERESTED IN FOSTERING A SPRINGER FOR ESRA? The Foster Home program is the most important aspect of ESRA's organization. Our Foster Homes provide immeasurable assistance to our Springers by providing them with housing, medical care, rehabilitation, exercise, and love. Frequently dogs that are in our Foster program have previously been in stressful and sometimes abusive situations and the Foster Home environment gives these dogs time to heal their wounds and gain confidence in their relationship with others before they go on to permanent placement. Fostering can lead to adoption - the choice is yours. It can be a chance to experience life with a Springer before making a long-term commitment. ESRA Foster Homes are screened, placing dogs only in homes that are approved as responsible and reliable. All dogs will be spayed and neutered, fully vaccinated, and tested for heartworm while in foster care. To graduate a dog from foster care to permanent placement is a success and a happy ending made possible only by ESRA's foster home members! If you would like to foster a dog for ESRA, please complete a Foster Home Application ( Please contact our MN/IA/ND/SD coordinator for information. Ellie Starks at or 507-271-8107.
