Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Calling all experienced GSD people!! Athena is a two year old purebred German Shepherd that came to us in rough shape. Athena is all business! She is an extremely active dog and wants to work and/or play constantly. Athena needs a home that will either work her or invest the time and energy into agility training. She would also make a great running partner as she was bred to be on the move. Athena is respectful and will not jump on furniture or beds and loves her crate. She aims to please and is very obedient. She does great with children and other dogs but will not do well with cats or other small animals in the home. Please be advised: Athena needs a home with experienced German Shepherd owners.

More About German Shepherd Dog Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Hi I'm Bindi! I am 4 years old so I am past that whole awkward puppy stage. Crates make me a bit nervous, but I am always on very best behavior. I love taking casual walks and exploring the outdoors. I'm cool around kids and cats, but I am pretty picky about which dogs I want to hang with. So I would do best in a home where I am the only dog. I will not be in the running for catcher for the Yankees, but I take treats like a princess. Of all my accomplishments I am most proud of my ability to snuggle and cuddle anywhere. I am 100% housetrained too! Won't you give me a soft place to lay my head at night?

      Sex: Female Female

      Location: Buffalo, NY
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). UPDATE: Remy has been doing well at the kennel, but it is no place to live. She loves people and anyone she's met. Remy loves car rides, going for walks and even goes on runs with Dash Dog once a week for exercise. She would do best to be the only dog/animal in the home. Meet Remy. She is a one year old girl who we recently rescued from the shelter. We don't have any open fosters at this time, but we couldn't let her go so she is currently staying at a local kennel. Remy is a wonderful, loving girl that knows sit, down and touch. She loves her soft toys and just carried it around. She'd gladly give it to you especially for a treat. She has been at the shelter way too long and has gotten kennel stress so bad her eyes are always red. Remy does great in the yard with younger pups. Apollo, a crazy young pit was her favorite play mate at the shelter. She just needs to decompress. She is not good with strong females, but likes young males - AT THIS TIME....She calms right down away from the shelter environment. She's also kind a leery around some men. Slow introductions are a must. Please give this GORGEOUS girl a chance!

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Update 7/15/16: Simon is doing Fantastic in his new foster home. He has met Charlie his new foster brother and they get along so well!! Simon is learning how to play with toys, it seems he has never really learned how to have any fun! We walks great on leash and does fantastic at adoption events. The foster does have two cats, that Simon insists on chasing. So a home without cats would be best. Meet Simon (formerly known as Snoopy). He's one of the dogs we were able to save thanks to everyone who donated and helped us bring him into foster for Christmas!! Simon is a 5 yr old sweet loving gentle boy with a huge heart. He's enjoying all the attention at his foster's home. He loves being outside, crates well, non aggressive and very laid back. When Simon's not outside he likes the view from the window!

      rescue
      Breed: Miniature Pinscher-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: Buffalo, NY
Posted Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Mixed (short coat). Meet Tyke! He's a very dapper older gentleman who is an absolute delight! Tyke is likely a MinPin mix who is estimated to be between 12 and 15 years old, but don't let that fool you! This guy's in excellent health and has the perfect amount of playful energy. In the morning, he waits til you awake to greet you, but then is just so happy to start the day with you that you can't help but laugh. He weighs approximately 15 lbs. He likes his foster dog brothers just fine, and appreciates their leadership in the home. There have been no food or resource guarding issues and they all dine communally. He does not, however, care to live peacefully with his foster cat, as his chasing instincts are strong. He's been a part of a busy foster home with people of all ages coming and going, and he does great with it all, but he seems to prefer quiet cuddling with his special person. He's made exceptional progress walking politely on leash (although he still tends to pull if he sees a squirrel or a kitty) and has been completely nonreactive to meeting other dogs on walks. Once he learned the house routine, he's had no potty accidents and is able to be left out while we're gone. We think he may becoming hard of hearing, but he's adjusting just fine and watches his person for cues in all situations. He's a love bug who would make an excellent companion for someone looking for a cuddler! Apply to adopt Tyke today!!

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Hound / Mixed. My name is Amanda and I am making my official Educate A Bull debut!! I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful organization!! The ladies here, and we can’t forget our gentlemen volunteers, have asked that I tell you some fun facts about me. Well let’s start out with my age, I am a very young 3 year old mix. Mix of what you ask? Well we aren’t 100% sure, there may be some boxer, a sprinkling of hound, a splash of pit bull and a pinch of mutt. Whatever I am mixed with made up on heck of an awesomely sweet girl who loves to be around people. I greet everyone I meet with a very enthusiastic tail wag and a generous portion of butt wiggle. I have finished heart worm treatment so I have been hanging out with my foster and enjoying sleeping on my very own recliner. I do not have to share it with anyone!! I have become accustomed to all the love, attention and praise lavished on me time with my very own humans that I have decided I rather not have to share my spotlight or my recliner. I prefer that my paws be the only pitter patter you will hear in the house. I guess that is my inner diva coming out! If you are interested in meeting me please fill out an application at www.educateabull.org! I can’t wait to see how comfortable your recliner is! I will also lay on a dog bed if I must!

      Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Young
      Location: Buffalo, NY
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Meet Concetta, affectionately called Connie aka Red Dog, who finally knows what it is like to be part of a family. She is truly doing her best at learning her manners and how to be polite in the house. She is just so happy to be loved that she forgets sometimes what she is supposed to do! She has the heart to match her soft, loving, beautiful eyes. She is definitely a people pleaser, and once you meet her you are her friend forever. She is a small statured girl and her best feature is her incredible knack for cuddling. Connie’s favorite hobbies are to be cuddled up or going for a walk with her foster family. She also loves to play with her rough and tough toys all while she is laying as close to you as possible. But, since she is young she is still learning how to share. This sweet ‘Little Red Dog’ has worked very hard and LOVES to show off her agility skills. Concetta is certainly up for any athletic challenge she is given. She is the dog of no fear, except when it comes to meeting a new canine friend. She tends to be a little nervous, so slow introductions would work best for her. She would prefer to be an only child, due to her nervousness. She would really be at her best being the only child because she wants all eyes and hugs on her. Apply to adopt Concetta today through our application at http://educateabull.rescuegroups.org/forms/.

Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Boxer / Mixed (short coat). See Elliot's HomepageGo to our official websiteYou can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Elliot is around 8 yrs old and was taken from the SPCA. He was found wandering around the city, nobody came to claim this soulful guy and he was not doing well in a kennel environment, so EAB was asked to take him. He appears to have had a rough life, with scars on his legs and backend due to a skin allergy or injury. But that hasn't stopped him from loving people!! Elliot was in a foster for about 6 months before being adopted. Elliott is ultra affectionate and just wants to be around his people. The family just was not a good fit for this guy, so we took him back. Elliot is laid back and is looking for a home without small children, as they frighten him and make him uneasy. He does get along with other dogs, but would need a slow introduction - he has food/toy resource guarding issues - which can be easily managed. Please apply to adopt this awesome guy today!!
