Jaylo loves to be next to her people all the time. She loves to cuddle, and if you sit down, she will be in your lap or by your side. She is very sweet and loves to give kisses. She plays in doggie day care in the small dog group, and does great. She is currently living with 2 pit bulls, who she loves to wrestle with, ....but she does have the typical small dog bossiness and lets them know when she doesn't want them near her stuff. Even though she can get along with other dogs, she would prefer to be an only pet so she gets all the attention. She knows sit, lay, & shake. Jaylo should only go to a home where the children are 12 or older, since young kids get a bit too hyper for her. If you would like more information about Jaylo, please contact her foster mom at lddr.amy@gmail.com. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. More About Jack-A-Bee Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. ********First – I want to say thank you for checking out my page!! Before filling out an application, please be sure to read the below. ******* My name is Odessa, and I came from a high kill shelter in TX. I’m around 5-6 years old, collie/husky. I am an extremely sweet girl looking for the right family for me. I have a little bit of separation anxiety, and must go to a home with another dog. I do know how to howl, especially when I hear sirens! Due to my howling tendencies, an apartment/condo life is not for me. I am also a digger by nature. I do not try to dig to China, but I do like to dig a little hole that I can lay in! This is VERY common for huskies to do. I need a home that has a securely fenced in yard. I am curious, and have the urge to explore, so going on walks is a must! I have wiggled my way out of cracked doors. Since I am very much Husky, my recall is not so great. I am on a mission to explore!!! I also need to have a family who understands that I have accidents in the house. We are working with the vets and trainers to get a handle on it. It can be as common as 5-7 accidents in a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I have a disease called Pannus, which basically is a progressive change that occurs where blood vessels and scar tissue invade the cornea. I will have to continue to visit a doggy Ophthalmologist the rest of my life. I will be on medicated eye drops twice a day for the rest of my life (costs ~$35-$55 a month). Unfortunately this disease is not curable, but it is manageable. My awesome foster mom ordered me some dog sunglasses so I am able to enjoy the outdoors again without doing further damage to my eyes. These awesome goggles are something I should wear when if I’m hanging outside, or going for walks, especially during midday when the sun is the most intense. Please read more about Pannus here: www.animaleyecenter.com/pannus. My foster mom would strongly encourage those interested in adopting me to please read about Siberian Huskies, and their tendencies. A majority of my traits that I display are from that side of my family. However – I am not typically as high strong as most huskies, so as far as energy level, I get that from my Collie side! I am hoping, with all paws crossed, that the perfect family is out there for me. I am a GREAT dog, who is very easy going, laid back, and just wants to snuggle all day long. I love most other dogs, cats, kids and people. It would be most ideal if my future home is not too far from my foster. My foster mom believes I would transition best by slowly moving into my new home. If you are interested in adopting me or knowing more about me, please e-mail my foster mom at laurenashleyprt@gmail.com. Before filling out an application, please be sure that the following applies: You have fully read Odessa’s bio completely You have a fenced in yard You currently have another dog You are aware and up for the medical challenges and costs that come with adopting a special needs dog You have read into the Siberian Husky breed, and are aware of their quirks, and challenges that they come with Thank you for considering Odessa! A terrific foster with LDDR has just brought her home and is hoping someone with a sweet, patient heart will offer this sweet girl a comfortable, safe place to live out her remaining time. It is hard to believe the age on her license, because she has so much get up and go! Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. “A dark eyed beauty with a smile all her own.” Hi! I’m Ellie, a sweet, affectionate girl who is on a journey to find my forever home. I was rescued from an abandoned yard and am so excited to have an opportunity to find a family that I can love. Training and trust have been key on the road to my transformation from orphan to loyal companion. I’m learning how to interact properly with dogs of various sizes, and how to listen to my handler when distractions exist. I know many commands, such as sit, stay, shake, no, come, go potty, down, roll over, and give kisses. I’m house trained, leash trained and crate trained. I love as much positive attention as possible, (who doesn’t?) and am not certain I want to share your affection with other animals. I like Nylabones, Kong toys and real bones but have a hard time sharing such treats with canine buddies. (I never got any before I was rescued.) A home where I can be the sole shining canine star would be ideal. I’ve been described as very affectionate, (I love cuddles!), sensitive, and mostly submissive. I can be insecure when it comes to loud noises, such as thunderstorms and fireworks. My future owners will need to be patient and kind, and continue with my training and socialization. I’m a sweet girl who is longing for a home where I’ll never be left behind again. Can you help me complete my journey and make my dreams of a loving home come true? I just want to play!" Meet Prince, an active 6 year old Black Labrador Retriever / German Shorthair Pointer mix. Poor Prince was confined to an apartment with no socialization and little attention because the family lost interest in him. LDDR agreed to take Prince and find the right home for him. He is now receiving lots of playtime and TLC in his foster home while waiting for a forever home. Prince is your typical busy dog that will do best in an active home and with an adopter who is willing to work with him to teach him some proper manners. A fenced yard would be ideal to play ball, as that’s his favorite thing to do. Prince walks well on a leash except when a car goes by. He currently has a desire to chase moving cars. He is perfectly housetrained and will bark at the door to let you know he needs to go out, and he will bark at the door to come back in, too. Prince is good with most dogs when properly introduced. He seems to ignore cats, but has never lived with one. For more information or questions, email Tim at tmb611@msn.com. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. A kind vet took her and her puppies in and nursed them back to health. All of her puppies have been adopted and now it is Margo's turn! She is a very fun, playful, and sweet girl. She has been in training learning to be calm and relaxed. This girl would love a fenced yard to run and play in. Margo would prefer a home without cats or kids. She is looking for someone who will give her the time and patience she needs to settle in and be the best dog she can be. Is that home with you?

Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. My name is Poppy! I am one of a kind. I love being around my people, where they go, I go. I am like a little shadow (only not so little). My foster mom says I am pretty sure that I am a lap dog, because I will start laying next to you and every so sweetly inch my way closer and closer until I have at least my head on you! She says I am a great cuddler. My favorite people to cuddle with are my human foster brother and sister. In fact, now that I am used to living with them, mom lets me sleep in bed with them at night. This is by far my favorite privilege. I love kids!!! I am really strong and learning how to be calm when little kids are around, but it is hard because I just love them so much! When I first came to my foster house, everyone thought I didn't like little dogs because the family I was going to be living with had three small dogs and we got off on the wrong foot. Those little dogs would growl and bite at me...it scared me, so I growled back. I sound a little scary so my foster mommy kept us separate for two weeks. Eventually, I got used to the little dogs attitude and didn't respond to it anymore...now we are best of friends. In fact, the smallest doggie and I are always together, playing or sleeping (my mommy some pictures of us together on my page). I am learning boundaries and commands, but I can be stubborn and forgetful. Everyday I get better, but I will need a strong pack leader and continued training when I move my permanent home (but what dog doesn't). I am so comfortable in my foster home and it will be so hard to leave my little family, but I just know there is a family waiting to keep me forever...might that be you? He is very gentle with us and plays extremely well. His favorite toy is a tennis ball, which he loves to play fetch with or just roll it around by himself. He settles down nicely and doesn't make much noise in the house and his tail wags like crazy when he sees his people! Benji loves playing outside, running around after squirrels or just lying around to soak up some rays! If you're looking for a new companion, Benji is an awesome guy to have around! We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
