Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Terrier (short coat). From the moment Lewis saw people be kind to him, he was ready to start a new life! Lewis has been vetted (UTD On Shots, de-wormed, neutered ) and is HW-= and now on preventative! He is submissive, sweet and loves playing with his foster siblings. Lewis seems to know that a new life has arrived and he's perfectly happy to be a happy go lucky sweet guy ready for the real deal! He's about a year old we think and just at 50 lbs. He may fill out to be the size of small lab and is just adorable!

More About Labrador Retriever Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Bullboxer Pit
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: Dallas, TX
Posted Breed: Boxer / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). My name is Apollo and I am a very energetic 18 month old pit bull mix. I was surrendered to the shelter by my former owner because they couldn’t afford me anymore. I love to go on long walks or runs, and then relaxing around the house getting my belly rubbed. My favorites things include playing fetch and tug in the backyard. I am great with people and kids, housebroken, and doggy door trained. I do get a bit of separation anxiety when my foster parents leave because I have never gotten this much attention before!!!!!. My foster parents are still working on crate training, but it's scary in there and I don't like it much, but I am getting better each day.

Champ loves to be in your lap and next to you. He also likes quiet time in his crate. He is doing well with potty training. He's a lovable guy and probably fits best in a home where there are no children or older children. He loves to go on walks and needs guidance & structure with lots of TLC!

      Breed: Labrador Retriever
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Young
      Location: Dallas, TX
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Dixie is a 2 yo female, yellow Lab mix, approx. 50 lbs. UTD on shots. She gets along with other pets (dogs) and people, with a small period of adjustment to her new surroundings. Dixie was ignored before rescue, so she craves interaction/play. Dixie will give you signs when she needs to go out, but, if you ignore her, she will have an accident. We are working on commands, crate training with great progress. . She is smart and affectionate. She is the most loving dog, and will come up to where you are sitting and put her head in your lap. Dixie would fit well in a family with older children and room to run.

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Joy is a very sweet, lovable two-year old pit bull/terrier mix that we saved from a local Shelter along with her 28 day old puppy. She is ready for her new home!! She has quite a bit of energy when playing with other dogs but is extremely sweet and very grateful to have been saved. She hugged her foster mom the entire day after they got home and was named Joy because she literally jumped for joy when she and her puppy were brought into the home. Joy weighs approximately 47 pounds and is house-trained and kennel trained. She will even make herself potty again if you take her out 10 minutes after she was just out. She is very good about going potty right away every time you go outside. She is a beautiful, big-hearted girl that is ready for her forever home!

      Breed: Chihuahua
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: Dallas, TX
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Leroy is a male Chihuahua. He has a brown, thin, short coat, weighs about 7 pounds and is one year old. He is very sweet. He was pulled along with his mother and siblings from the Arlington shelter the day they were born. At 8 weeks all of the puppies were diagnosed with mange which made them lose their fur and it took about 7 months to grow all of their hair back. They can be a lively bunch, like to play and bark when around other dogs. On their own they are not such big barkers. Please let us know if you are interested in meeting him.

      Breed: Pointer-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Location: Dallas, TX
Posted Breed: Hound / Pointer / Mixed (short coat). Clark started his life betrayed and abused by the people that were supposed to be caring and loving him.. Someone in his home kicked him hard enough to break one of his front legs, causing him to overcompensate with the other and break it, as well. They also kicked his brother, Kent and broke his leg. Clark has chosen to rise above and just be a silly, floppy puppy!! He is 5 months old and weighs about 35 lbs. He isn't done growing yet! We think he will be a big fella as we think he is a "blended hound". Since recovering from surgery, he is ready to play and find a home and family that will give him the love and care he deserves. Clark loves playing with tennis balls and other dogs (small and large), does well with cats, and LOVES belly and ear rubs
