Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever. Jacey's foster family can't say enough things about her - she is just a sweet girl. Jacey loves other dogs, but she especially likes her people. She enjoys her early morning walks and sniffing interesting smells along the way. Jacey likes to play ball for short periods also. She is quiet, and her foster said just one word could sum her up: awesome! Jacey takes her treats nicely and will lie near you when it is time to relax. Jacey is very gentle with kids who approach her, and she is just so easygoing. She is a sweet, older girl who would like a soft, warm bed in a loving forever home to spend the rest of her years. She will reward you with love and sweetness. Jacey would do better in a home with few to no stairs, she likes to take her time moving around and takes joint supplements for her hips. She is house trained and does well with the five other dogs she is fostered with. This sweet girl does not usually come to the adoption events but she can meet you in her foster home. If you are interested in meeting Jacey, fill out an adoption application on our website and you can request a meet with her once you are approved. The adoption includes the altering of the dog, current vaccinations, and microchipping. More About Labrador Retriever Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Meet Patch! Patch, named for his striking, attractive coloring, is an eight-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler). When Patch joined us, it was obvious the poor soul didn't even know what a dog bed was and wasn't in the best of health. He was started on meds and it has made an amazing difference. This lovable bug is good with other dogs and older children (just a little shy at first, understandably). Patch has an affectionate nature and likes to jump up with his front legs and lay his head on your lap or roll over for belly rubs. He likes water, leisurely walks, can use a doggie door and is house and leash trained. He'd love a decent sized backyard, since he is 95 pounds of awesome! If you are interested in meeting Patch, please fill out an adoption application today. The adoption includes the altering of the dog, current vaccinations, and microchipping. Location: USA
Posted Breed: Golden Retriever / Mixed. This sweetheart is Connor. Connor is looking for a family that is ready to adopt a dog who is older, calm, and loving. This sweet boy settled in nicely to his foster home. He is fostered with a few other dogs and does well with them. This sweet boy is house trained, and can stay home alone without getting into anything. Connor is friendly to people and is sweet when he meets them. This mild-mannered sweetheart has been around groups of teenagers and has done well with the noise and large group. Connor should be in a home with a secure yard, he likes to tests the gates to see if they will open. He enjoys his crate and will often sleep in it, he also sleeps quietly through the night on his dog bed. His foster family says that he has an endearing personality and quirks that match his adorable face! This boy enjoys his chew toys and will watch the other dogs when they play. Connor loves to head out on walks with you, he also rides well in the car and likes to stick his head out the window. Because of his age and settled nature, we think he would do best in a home with older or no children, he prefers a quiet, settled household. Connor does take thyroid medication that he will need to continue to take. This boy is loving, sweet, and gentle and deserves a happy and loving home where he can share his love with you for the rest of his life. If you are ready for the exciting adventure of adopting a dog and are interested in meeting Connor, your first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website. Posted Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Meet Terra! This 1-year old girl has a big heart and a lot of love to give. She has amazing eyes that are mostly brown with some light blue color in them. This cutie is house and crate trained and walks well on the leash. Terra is friendly and knows some commands. This tall and lean girl is fostered with kids and loves playing with them. She is also good with the cats in the home, and does well with other dogs, though she can be choosy about which ones she plays with. Terra would do well with a female family, with or without kids, she is quite wary of men and takes her time warming up, if at all. She would do well in a home with another dog or cat buddy to hang out, or with a family that is home more often than not. She loves her chew toys, is fairly quiet, and love to share some hugs and ear scratching. Terra is looking for a family that will be dedicated to giving her all the exercise, training, love, and attention this sweet girl deserves, while still giving her time to come out of her shell and be the happy girl she is! She raised kind and loving pups who have all gone off to their loving forever homes. This beauty is house and crate trained and has very nice house manners. She can be left in the house for several hours while you are away. She likes to play ball and will engage the other dogs for some playtime. She is affectionate and loyal to her favorite people in her life and great with new people she meets. She will make a great family dog for a moderately active dog family. She is treat motivated, which makes her eager to learn and fun to train. Her foster has worked with her on basic commands like sit, down, stay and shake. Ronnie would love a forever family that will continue to reinforce these good behaviors. Ronnie is house trained and knows how to use a doggy door. She is also crate trained, but she doesn't need to be crated because when left home alone she doesn't get into anything she shouldn't. Ronnie is a mix of a fun, playful Labrador and possibly some Shepherd as her ears flop over and are pointed. She is quite interested in hunting small animals so no bunnies or cats are for this beauty! When you grab her leash she is right at your feet with her tail a wagging ready to go on her walk. She is good on leash and will walk near you as long she knows you are in charge. Ronnie has shown great improvement in her ability to focus on walks and ignore distractions. This wonderful girl has also had professional training and the trainer gave her great reviews! Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Meet sweet-spirited Italia (called Bella by her foster family)! We would like Italia to find just the right family for her, we are offering a special reduced adoption donation of $200 to help this long-term foster find her perfect forever home. This two-year-old lab mix was rescued with her four puppies. She took excellent care of them and they have all gone off to their own forever homes. Italia is house trained, has nice house manners, and she enjoys looking out the front window to see what is going by. She is fairly laid back and is friendly with house guests. Italia knows quite a few commands and enjoys doing them, especially when there is a treat involved (which she takes gently). This sweet girl enjoys hanging out in the yard sunbathing, playing with her dog toys, and playing a good game of fetch followed up with some belly rubs and cuddling. Italia can be choosy with other dogs, she does love the resident dog in her foster home, but she is not a fan of dog parks or dog beaches. She enjoys going for a walk and does better with a prong collar or she could be a good candidate for an Easy Walk harness. Italia is a happy and loving girl and her tail is always wagging! She is playful, enjoys a good snuggle, and likes to give kisses. Italia would like a family that is around more often than not and she can be crated for short periods of time. No kitties for this beauty, she is not a fan of them. This beauty would prefer to meet you at her foster home, if you would like to meet Italia, your first step would be to fill out an adoption application on our website, then request a meet with her once you are approved.
