Our mail server does not support it so we can not reply to your inquiries Nelson had his dental yesterday His second since he has been in rescue. Yesterday had to have the remaining teeth removed so he has no teeth now. He's doing well...........friendly, happy and active. He eats very well! His only issue is housebreaking, which he just doesn't seem to understand. He does use pee pads.. It takes him awhile to settle down in a lap for a cuddle and he's a little wary of strangers, but not for long. Sweet little Nelson is a timid boy with so much love to give! He was very matted and underweight when he was rescued, but his fluffy white coat is growing back nicely following his emergency "haircut" and he's starting to put on some much needed weight. He is still nervous about being picked up but sooooo happy when he realizes that is means he's going outside or spending time cuddling on a lap! He loves to run around in a fenced yard and is learning to come when he is called. He is used to a fenced yard and still considered a flight risk. He would need a fenced yard or an exercise pen until he is comfortable walking on a leash. He does not really walk on a leash He is afraid of being confined. More About Maltese Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Our mail server does not support it so we can not reply to your inquiries Sadie a 6 yr old breeder release German Shepherd. She loves people of all ages and would be a great one to tag along on walks or rides. Sadie is a strong girl and needs someone that is capable of handling her. She pulls on a leash yet but her foster home is working with her on this. She seems to be a little nervous when she gets too far from the house and pulls to get back inside. Sadie is good with other dogs. She gets a little too excited when around them and does have to be monitored when first meetings happen. Her feet are big and she doesn't know her strength. We do not recommend a home with someone that has small dogs or small children. She has been around cats and will at times bark and chase them. Sadie know "come" "lay down" and learning "sit and stay" Her biggest hurdle though will be walking on a leash and not dragging her human.

Our mail server does not support it so we can not reply to your inquiries Rain is from a terrible hoarding situation. She is a sweet little girl who wants nothing but your love and attention. She is working on her house manners and walking on a leash. She is a wild one, full of energy and would love a family with children that like to play play play. Rain's buddy Summer found a home so now she said it's her turn. She still does not like a leash so we feel a home with a fenced yard would be best for her. Rain gets a little too excited and doesn't come when called so care when doors to the outside are opened. She would be gone in a flash if given the chance. Rain loves to run yet loves to cuddle as well. Rain is a climber so no doggy doors or short fencing for her. And absolutely no tie outs for this little girl she is just too active and would get hurt. Rain needs to be monitored when she has her time outside.

Our mail server does not support it so we can not reply to your inquiries Clyde had his dental cleaning and has 1 tooth left. While they were removing a loose tooth his jaw fractured. He has some bone loss The vet stitched the small fracture in place and we'll monitor it to make sure it does not cause any further problems. He will be on canned food and soft treats from now on. Alopecia - hair loss on his legs This little stinker is Clyde, who along with Bonnie, were taken to a shelter to be euthanized since their owner passed and the son didn't want them. Thankfully the shelter didn't feel that way and an awesome angel pulled them from the shelter. Stinky and nails curling under, his angel bathed him and trimmed his nails to help him feel more comfortable before helping transport him to us. His teeth are horrible and his mouth infected that it was effecting his sinsus and making his eye goopy. He is on antibiotics to clear up some of the infection before having his teeth cleaned and some removed. He does have some teeth missing now and a part of his tongue has a piece missing from where his tooth was. He is missing hair on the bottom part of his legs. We will be doing blood work on him to see if we can determine what is causing it. Clyde is a sweet boy who loves attention and a soft warm bed. He likes to climb up on the back of the couch to watch what is going on in the house. Clyde would be a great for someone that wants a lap dog or a shadow. He is a little cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to please his people Clyde could use some more Angels to help pay for his medical bills since dentals are expensive but very necessary. Our mail server does not support it so we can not reply to your inquiries Claire is a little Chihuahua that was picked up as a stray and ended up at a pound in April of 2015. Scared and not trusting, the volunteers there worked with her everyday to help her overcome those fears. Today she is happy to meet people and will wiggle into their hearts right away. Claire loves meeting people so taking her with you shopping, etc would make her happy. Just don't leave her in the car by herself. She is small so we don't recommend her for a family that has young children not used to being around little ones. Families with children that are older would be best for Claire. She loves sitting her their laps showering them with kisses. Claire's idea home would be with someone that does not have other dogs so that she can be the center of attention. She loves being with her people and cuddling on the couch with them. She lives in her foster home with other dogs and will grump and groan at times but they just ignore her. Although she walks well on a leash she does perfer fenced area to potty in so that she can walk around freely. She is NOT to be trusted out of her area or off her leash. Remember she was a stray so wandered off from someone. A simple exercise pen for pets or toddlers will be perfect for her. NO tie outs. Her back legs are a little wobbly at times but she can run just as fast as any of the other dogs in her foster family. She apparently had an injury to her eye before being picked up by the dog warden. We applied an ointment 3 times a day and her little scratch has healed but she has the start of a cataract. We have heard people taking their pets in to remove cataracts but sadly that isn't something we are able to do for her but it is a possiblity for her new owner Journal Summary13 journal entries costing $ 628.26

If you are contacting us via petfinder please use our email wsadoptions@wolfspiritsrescue.com and not the 'AskAbout ' button above provided by petfinder. Our mail server does not support it so we can not reply to your inquiries We currently need foster homes for small, medium and large breeds. Yes, we are expanding since there are so many dogs that need a home. Help us help them to safety. So many have a sad story and just need a little love and attention to help them blossom into happy/trusting companions. Won't you help them by providing a temporary home for them? Thinking of adoption but not sure ? What a great way to see if a particular dog is the right fit for you too. The more foster homes we have the more we can all save together. Some need fenced yards while others don't. Some are not good with young children. We will let our foster homes know everything we know about each particular dog prior to them fostering them. All dogs are isolated for a minimum of two weeks so that our foster homes' own pets are not in danger of catching something contagious ( kennel cough, etc ) They are completely vetted prior to coming to your home. We provide heartworm prevention for each foster dog as well as all vet expenses. All we ask is that our foster homes provide lots of love, patience, understanding, a premimum quality food, and a crate for training. Foster homes will also provide monthly updates including pictures to be posted on our web site. Please email for more details if you are interested in fostering. Or call Robin @ 234-571-9014 Or click on the link below to fill out our foster application and one of our volunteers will be in contact with you. http://www.wolfspiritsrescue.com/info/display?PageID=3873
