Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Gizmo is a 3 year old, Carin Terrier mix, male pup with blond hair that is slightly curly. He is a cheerful, curious and clever little boy. He gets along well with other dogs and he likes to play. He will entertain himself by tossing around a toy and then running after it. I would describe Gizmo as an 'easy' dog as he has a beautiful dispostion and he's not overly demanding or needy. He is a sweet dog who really loves spending time with his people. They way he pounces like a cat will make you laugh every time. Gizmo is crate trained and house trained. Gizmo is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Adopt Gizmo for $125.

A.K.A. : A mongrel, mixed-breed dog
Overview: A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

More About Mutt Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Doberman Pinscher-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Baby
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Doberman Pinscher / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Meet  Comet!  Comet is a 1-year old, Black with brown and white,  Doberman Pincher Cattle Dog Mix.  Clearly the Doberman genes are predominant, however his beautifully white speckled feet and long tail show his Cattle Dog side.   This boy is a beauty.  He’s stunning.  He is tall and lean (a little too lean at the moment) and he has a beautiful, shiny coat.  You will know everything you need to know about Comet within 5-minutes of meeting him.  He has a beautiful disposition.   He buries his head in your lap and waits for pets and cuddles.   He is a lover this boy!  Coment  likes to play with toys and other dogs.  He also likes to play tug (although sometimes he cheats!)  Comet has some puppy habits he’ll need your help growing out of.  He is a friendly pup and loves people but his enthusiasm results in his jumping up on people sometimes.  He pulls when walking on a leash.   At the moment, Coment  does not do well when left alone in a closed kennel.  If you plan to kennel him, you will need to help him remember that a kennel can be a safe place.  The most important thing to Comet is just being with his people.  He may even fancy himself a lap dog if you have a big enough couch.  Comment is house trained.  He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, comes with a lifetime registration microchip and 30-Day free health insurance policy.  Adopt Comet for $200.   If you are interested in meeting Coment, please fill out an online adoption application on the Animal Rescue Friends website. http://www.animalrescuefriends.org/dog-adoption-application.html

      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Female Female
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Olive is a playful, outgoing, friendly girl who enjoys going for walks and is always up for a hike in the gorgeous AZ mountain ranges. She is very motivated by food. She would be a great dog to teach tricks to or do some type of dog sport with. She is very athletic. She is aprox. two years old, crate trained, house trained, microchipped and up to date on her shots. She comes with life time support for training and dog sitting from Thinking K9. She gets along with other dogs, but is a more dominant personality, so a careful dog intro is recommended when meeting new dogs. She is also a talented escape artist and her new home will need 6 ft or higher fences. She lives in a home with cats and she does fixate on them and will chase them if given a chance, so we don't recommend a cat household for her. Here is a video of how she ended up with us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=7iZU83OdHYM Photo Credit: JET 5 Studios This is a courtesy post for Street Dog Rescue. Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Hi! My name is Bandit. I am a black and white male Chihuahua. I am 9 years young and weigh approximately 10 lbs. I am so lucky! I had the best Mom and Dad a pup could ever ask for. They loved me to the moon and back. Our lives are changing though as, due to illness, they can’t care for me or my sister Nina like they used to. They want only the very best for us. That is why we are looking for a new family to love us. Please adopt us together for we are very bonded! About me. I like treats. Snacks are good also. I like to walk…over to my food dish. (I kid!) I have to be honest with you. I’m not exactly at my ideal ‘target’ weight. Maybe you can help me with that? I like to have my ears rubbed and my parents want you to know that I have an adorable personality. (Blushing) I’m a laid back fellow. I like to smell flowers. I like to ride in my little wagon or in the basket on a walker. I get along well with other dogs. I am doggy door trained. I like to cuddle with my people. Do you like to cuddle too? I am neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. My adoption fee is $80. If you’d like to meet me please fill out an online dog adoption application on the Animal Rescue Friends website. http://www.animalrescuefriends.org/dog-adoption-application.html

Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Bronson is a puppy in a HUGE body!! He’s aprox 10 mths old and is the son of tiny Olive!! (See her story here: https://www.facebook.com/StreetDogRescueAZ/posts/246396249229082?pnref=story) He was adopted out 8 mths ago, but unfortunately his family is unable to keep him and so he is looking for his forever family. He is a big goofball, with an expressive face and personality. He is still a lot puppy and we are working on grown up manners. He would love to have a family who will take him for daily walks and who will spend some time playing with him in the backyard. He loves toys and people. He is learning about getting along with everybody, all dogs and cats. I think he will get it, he’s made significant progress in the week he’s been here. He is house broke, crate trained, neutered, up to date on shots and licensed. he comes with life time support for training and dog sitting from Thinking K9. He will need a commitment from his forever family to do at least four free sessions with us, one a week for four weeks, as soon as he’s adopted, as he definitely still needs some help learning to be a grown up! (Better pictures coming!) This is a courtesy post for Street Dog Rescue. Please contact them directly at 623-340-5010 for any additional info

She does well with all ages that visit our home. She loves to go for walks or to just hang out on the couch next to you. Her all time favorite thing to do is sunbath. She’s a great size - not too small, not too big! She wandered between four exits off of I10 in Buckeye for over a month before she was able to be humanely, live trapped. From the first night she was trapped and joined our household she has been nothing but She is aprox. 4 yrs old, a lab/shepherd/pit/chow mix, you take your pick of the combo you like the most. ;) She’s house broken, crate trained, up to date on shots, spayed, chipped and licensed.
