From the Foster: At 10, Carmen is still full of life and herself. All people are her kind of people. If you have hands to pet her; she is as happy as she can be. She likes to cuddle, take naps, and will sleep under the covers when invited. A bath is among her very favorite things. The warm water and soapy massage will have her purring and moaning. She has also been known to sing at the events so prepare for her to serenade you! While Carmen loves people, she only tolerates other dogs. So Carmen would like to be the only Queen in her castle. Carmen is diabetic and requires 2 insulin's injections a day. They are a breeze and Carmen barely notices them because she associates them with mealtime. Which is also among one of Queen Carmen's favorite things. Although Carmen may have a hard time seeing the kibble (her vision is slightly challenged). If you are looking for a sweetheart who will make you laugh and win your heart, look no further than Queen Carmen.

More About Rat Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

DOB: 7/23/11 Dog Friendly: No Cat Friendly : No Kid Friendly: Yes House Trained: Yes Crate Trained Yes History: Stray Adoption Fee: $325 (Adoption Fee includes age appropriate vaccinations, Heartworm test (if old enough), Microchip, and Spay/Neuter surgery. From the Foster: My name is Hendrix, but my friends call me “Hendrix – the tan colored Cookie Monster!” I love to eat, and play, and be with my friends. Rawhides and toys are the best, and they keep me occupied inside the house, and while playing outside, especially those squeaky toys, and ones that I can’t destroy in thirty seconds flat. I love going for walkies, and my favorites are trails that my foster mom takes me to, in Burnsville, with lots, and lots, of trees, birds, rabbits, and squirrels to watch, and big hills going up and down. I make it a point to try and greet every human friend that I encounter, on our big walks, whether they are dog fans, or not. I just have to show them how much they could love me too, since I know deep down that everyone loves me and thinks I am adorable too, plus I have to show them my great exuberance for life. I came to Carver Scott, on a mysterious journey (to my new foster family and rescue), through Minneapolis Animal Control. I spent almost seventy days at MACC, before being taken in by my new rescue, and super fun foster family. So, I haven’t been able to share much of my mysterious journey, with my new family, but I let them know how much I love my new foster home, by doing a happy dance anytime we pull into the driveway, and I realize where I am. In addition to eating, playing roughly with my toys, and going on great walks, I love most of all these things: cuddling with my foster mom, sleeping in my foster fam’s king size bed, at night, with them, snoozing on the couch, and back scratches. I love back scratches! And when there aren’t any great human friends around to scratch my itchy back, I just plop down, on the grass, and scratch away in the leaves. In my backyard, I love to terrorize the squirrels, chase the occasional rabbit running by, and sun bathe. I prefer to be in the backyard, with my fun friends, and not on my own. And, during the day, when my foster family is away, I snooze, in my kennel, or play quietly, with my great toy collection, and await their return later in the afternoon. I would love to find my perfect family, that I know is out there, who will provide great back scratches, and take me on awesome trails, for walks, and provide me lots of treats continually. In return, I promise to show everyone how much I love all people, give the best face kisses and earlobe nibbles, and how much I want to greet all those I happen to see. My new perfect family may, or may not, have another canine family member, as I am fine with being the center of attention. I will just have to make sure that my new family knows that I need slow intros, to other canine family members, as my family says I can be a bit “dog selective,” whatever that means. Later, in November, I will be having a pesky surgery to remove three bad teeth that have been giving me some bother. As soon as those three annoyances are out of my mouth, then I will be ready to head to my forever home, full of yummy treats, and rawhides. Please come to my next adoption event, at Carver Scott Humane Society, because you know that I can’t wait to meet you. Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Adoption Fee: $325. ~~Coco is a rambunctious, loving, energetic Pit Bull that is seeking a home with a strong dog parent and no kids. We think she would do amazing at a puppy kindergarten class. Coco loves to learn and to please! She knows sit, shake, stay, and we are working hard on "heel" when we run. She is an excellent runner and loves her leash and going outside. Coco will do her first 5k this month with me! Coco is a very powerful girl who thinks she's a tiny lap dog, so sometimes she doesn't know her own strength. She is a brutas! Coco will do well in a family where she can learn tricks, commands, and how to settle down a little. Running usually helps with the energy and she will need to go to a home with very active dog parents. Coco is the best sleeper ever and she has to spoon with you all night long. She is about the best protector you will ever find. Even in the short time I've had her, she would protect me from someone who tried to harm me. When we walk down the street, people move to the other side of the road! She looks like a beast but she is a little soft teddy bear with tons of energy:) Coco will eat absolutely anything. We have been feeding her grain free dog food. Someone who has time to train her and show her how to be a doggie will have the greatest companion animal on earth with this girl! Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Est. From the Foster: Hi! I'm Raven. I am a pitbull mix. I am a puppy and love to play tug a rope and chew on my rawhides. When I was a puppy I was sick with parvo and many people didn't think I would make it. But I survived and am now enjoying every minute. When I get excited I like to do what my foster mom calls 'butt wiggles'. I love to eat, give kisses, and snuggle.. but I also like to run around and chase my tail. I get distracted very easily and am crate trained. I am mostly house trained with the occasional accidents when I drink the toilet water. My foster mom likes to call me a cow because I eat my food so fast. I do well with kids but sometimes can be a little much for them. I also do well with dogs! I am looking for a forever home and someone who snuggle me.
