Posted Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). King and Queen are wonderful dogs around 6-7 years. They will take some time to adjust to a new home. They came from an extreme neglect situation andare doing well with me but still is skittish around new situations or people. It is amazing how resilient animals are! They were malnourished and living in a pen for years with little human contact. They love other dogs and will play for hours but will wait to come in the door until the coast is clear of humans. They do not love the human touch but will tolerate it and show no aggression when touched, just discomfort. King and Queen will thrive in a calm, quiet household with another dog and lots of love. King and Queen are very bonded and i fear might regress if separated.

Siberian Husky

A.K.A. : Chukcha, Chuksha
Overview: The Siberian Husky is very similar in looks to the Alaskan Malamute, yet somewhat smaller in build and not quite as bold. Still, he needs a strong-willed owner who will stay in control. This dog loves to roam and explore, so he needs a nice big yard.
Breed Group: Working
Weight (lbs): male: 45-60, female: 35-50
Height (in): male: 21-23.5, female: 20-22
Colors: All colors from black to pure white.
Coat: Coat is double-layered and medium-length. The guard hairs of the outer coat are straight and somewhat smooth lying. The undercoat is soft and dense and of sufficient length.
Character: Siberian Huskies are not particularly good watch dogs, because they want to befriend everyone they meet. They love to roam and are full of energy and independence.
Temperament: This breed gets along well with other Huskies, but they need to be trained carefully if they're to be kept with other household pets. They will not get along with cats or other small animals, though they do well with children.
Care: Its coat needs brushing one or two times a week, daily during periods of heaviest shedding.
Training: This breed is very intelligent and independent. Handlers should take this into consideration and use patience and understanding during training.
Activity: The Siberian Husky needs to be involved in physical activities and requires a well-fenced yard. If they are not kept active, they can be very destructive and noisy.
Country of Origin: Russia
Health Issue: This breed is relatively healthy, but some have heart disease and eye problems, along with dermatitis.
Life Expectancy: 11-13

More About Siberian Husky Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). Meet Darla, a 3 year old, gorgeous husky girl. Darla is still a little fearful of humans as she lived in a small outdoor pen her whole life with little human contact. She came with her friend, Spanky. Both were living in a small pen outdoors. They are learning indoor manners but they are quick studies. They will do better in a home with lots of structure and consistency. They are both very food motivated so listen well with food. Come out to one of our adoption events to meet them. We would love to adopt them together.

Posted Breed: Siberian Husky / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (short coat). et me guess: You like to jump into sweats as soon as you get home or even walk around in your undies? And did I mention with messy hair? Or you watch trash TV or stare at the wall imaging a perfect sunset? Well, that might make a lesser dog than I, Sarge, have second thoughts about coming to live with you and love you, but not me! That's because my heart is SO ENORMOUS and my potential for devotion is PRACTICALLY BOTTOMLESS and also...well, I can't see. That's right, I'm practically blind! But I know how to figure my way around once I've done it a few times with your help. My foster mom has trained me to be pretty much perfect, and I'll just snooze away happily at night while you watch whatever you like or just sit in the dark. Tell me that's not a relationship made in HEAVEN! Tell me you're not frantically reading these words, thinking, "MY GOD! I must find out how to adopt this dog RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE!" Calm down, I have all the information you need to adopt me, or share me with some other homeless chic dressing person who needs me in their life. Sarge is definitely a special boy, but he makes my heart melt. He loves people, loves to play, loves his dinner and his treats. He gets excited to walk with you, to sit with you, to rest his head upon your lap on a couch or the bed, listen to the sound of your voice and just be with you. He is a bit uncoordinated at times, but it is an endearing charm. Give Sarge a chance - he is worth it and longs to be in his own family. He is lovable and funny and takes the world in stride - we could all take a lesson from Sarge! He still circles when he is excited or nervous, but we go for real walks! He loves to play with his toys and play with his foster brothers and sisters. He has a very special personality and loves to be near his people. Sarge has glaucoma and needs daily drops to keep his pressure down. He is house and crate trained and loves snuggling with his people. email:releashedrescue@gmail.com

      Ares

      Breed: Siberian Husky

      Age: Young
      Location: Cumming, GA
Posted Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). What can you say about a 7 month old puppy that was dropped off at Floyd County Animal Control barely able to walk? What was the owner thinking would happen to this baby? Ares came to us as an adorable puppy with limited mobility but his disability never affected his spirit and love of life. Ares is a happy playful boy that loves his foster sisters and every human that he meets. How can I describe the fear, frustration, anger and complete sadness over the diagnosis of a degenerative neuro-muscular disorder for this happy go lucky guy? My first reaction is we are going to fight to find out what it is and cure it! All of my respected vets have told me that knowing what the illness is, will not change the outcome of a poor long term prognosis causing his condition to deteriorate over time. When we first got Ares, we hoped it was lack of muscle development due to being crated far too long. Ares has been through massage, acupuncture, hydro-therapy, multiple tests both with a local vet and at the UGA Vet Hospital and countless medications. At first, Ares showed some signs of improvement but about 6 weeks into it, he started regressing. We have had 3 appointments at UGA vet hospital and we are trying one final test that is really a shot in the dark. Every vet we have consulted has given us the same answer: degenerative neuro-muscular disorder. Ares' foster mom(who is far braver than I) has promised to continue with the multiple vet appointments and give him as much care, comfort and love as he deserves. We don't know how long Ares has but we want him to know there is love and that we won't give up on him. The vets at UGA think a cart and physical therapy could keep him mobile and mentally healthy longer. Our local vet will rent us a cart for him but we need funds for both. We are strapped financially, Ares medical bills have topped $4300.00 to date and we have recieved $1045 in donations. The break down: bi-weekly hydro therapy $200 each visit, acupuncture and skeletal balancing(almost $2600) and the testing at our first vet and UGA($1100), elbow pads because he had hygromas on both elbows as well as a harness($250) and used cart is $ 450. To donate to his medical fund please visit https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/ares-mystery-medical-fund/316842

Posted Breed: Foxhound (short coat). Jethro showed up on our property on July 5th and was not able to defecate. We took him to the vet and they diagnosed him with anal hernias possibly caused by not being neutered. We neutered him and repaired the hernias and he is good as n ew! We even cleaned his teeth. Jethro refuses to bay at adoptions but when he sees an intruder, it is a beautiful sound! Jethro loves to snuggle and is around 10 but in great shape for an old man!
