The Maltipoo, a delightful crossbreed, emerges from the charming combination of a Maltese and a Miniature Poodle, offering a compact and affectionate companion. Originating in the United States, this "designer dog" was selectively bred for its desirable traits, particularly its low-shedding coat and amiable disposition. Physically, Maltipoos typically weigh between 5-20 pounds, sporting a soft, wavy to curly coat that comes in various colors, most commonly white, cream, or apricot. Their temperament is a major draw: they are known for being intelligent, playful, and incredibly loving, often forming strong bonds with their families. This makes them highly suitable for both families with children and apartment living, provided they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation. While generally healthy, potential health considerations can include patellar luxation, progressive retinal atrophy, and white shaker syndrome, inherited from their parent breeds.
