Originating from the island of Malta, these ancient dogs were once favored companions of European nobility. Physically, they are characterized by their single coat of long, silky, pure white hair that gracefully drapes over a compact, well-proportioned body, typically weighing between 4-7 pounds. Their expressive dark eyes and black button nose add to their adorable appeal. Temperamentally, Maltese are known for being affectionate, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please.
