Litter Description
Meet our Great Outdoors Litter - a spirited group of adventurers inspired by wide open spaces, fresh mountain air, and the call of the wild! This is our second litter from the newest additions to our breeding program, Liberty and Lincoln. These parents are sure to make amazing puppies, with the perfect blend of beauty and brains. Puppies will be registered with AKC. I did not register this litter with ASCA. If you are a show home and want them registered with ASCA, just let me know; they absolutely can be. At Weeping Willows Ranch, we prioritize our dogs' and their offspring's health and well-being. All our breeding dogs undergo genetic testing through trusted providers like Paw Print Genetics and Embark to ensure the highest health standards. From the tender age of 5 days, our puppies receive individualized care and early neurological stimulation, setting the stage for a healthy and vibrant life ahead. We employ proven techniques from Puppy Culture to nurture their development until they are ready to join their forever homes at 8 weeks old. We also start doggy door potty training at 5 weeks old, so they are 99% potty trained when they leave to go home. Read more about Liberty and Lincoln in their profiles on our Breeding Dogs page on our website. Overview:
The Australian Shepherd, despite its name, actually originated in the western United States during the 19th century, bred primarily for herding livestock on ranches. These striking dogs are medium-sized with a sturdy build, often sporting captivating merle coats (blue or red) and piercing blue, amber, or marbled eyes, sometimes with two different colors (heterochromia). Known for their exceptional intelligence and high energy, Aussies possess a strong work drive and thrive on having a "job" to do, whether it's agility, obedience, or extensive exercise. Their temperament is generally loyal, affectionate, and good-natured with their families, though they can be reserved with strangers. Due to their high exercise requirements and need for mental stimulation, they are best suited for active families or individuals with ample outdoor space and a commitment to training; apartment living is generally not ideal. Potential owners should also be aware of common health concerns like hip and elbow dysplasia and certain eye conditions, including Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).
