The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka, often simply called Bolonka, is a charming and relatively rare toy breed originating from Russia, developed in the mid-20th century to be an ideal companion dog for apartment dwellers. Physically, they are small yet sturdy, typically weighing between 5 to 10 pounds, and sport a striking, wavy to curly coat that comes in a variety of solid colors—white is not permitted. Their endearing "teddy bear" appearance is matched by an equally delightful temperament; Bolonkas are known for being incredibly affectionate, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please.
