Typically small to medium in build, they feature a soft, wavy or curly coat in wheaten or varied colors, with a bright, expressive face. Their temperament is affectionate, intelligent, and playful, making them well-suited to families and adaptable to apartment living when given daily exercise and mental stimulation. They are generally good with children and other pets, responding well to positive reinforcement and consistent routines. Regular grooming is needed to prevent matting. Health is generally robust, but potential concerns include hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, allergies, and ear infections; responsible breeding and preventive care help maintain their well-being. Expect a lifespan around 12–15 years.
