REHOMING BELOVED FAMILY DOG

Description

As much as I hate to do this, we're going to have to re-home our very loved Eleanor (Ellie). We can't afford to send her off to training and after an incident that happened 4th of July weekend involving our 3 yo, we can't seem to get past it. Ellie was sleeping in her bed and we were in our bed when our daughter came in. We were still sleeping so she goes down to play with Ellie and idk if she was just startled or what but she snapped at her we had to take our daughter to get seen by a Dr. This is the only time anything like this has happened outside of warnings in the past. There was no warning growl, just the most horrific snarls and our daughter crying. We truly have tried everything we can to keep everyone safe but as we just had our 2nd child April 30th, we're anxious at the idea of two children on the move soon and we don't feel like it will be a good environment for her anymore. The only solution we've come up with is crating her more often than we'd like. Ellie really is a great dog and we are so broken up over this decision. She's been trained with a wireless fence, housebroken, knows basic commands, loves fetch, treats from the trash man, sitting directly on your feet and pretty much everyone (not delivery trucks). She is also the sleepiest, couch potato GSP I've ever known. Does not seem to enjoy the unpredictability that comes with small children and would likely do better in a home with kids ten or older. We're located in Gloucester, VA, and would love to discuss with anyone interested in loving our girl as much as we do and willing to give her a good life. We don't want to see her going to a bad home by dropping her at the pound.
