Overview:	The Briard loves an active life. He's intelligent and large; so much have careful training early on. He's a good watchdog, because he is wary of strangers.
Breed Group:	Herding
Weight (lbs):	75-100
Height (in):	male: 23-27, female: 22-25.5
Colors:	All uniform colors, except white (includes black, tawny, and gray shades).
Coat:	It's outer coat is coarse and dry, lying flat in long, slightly wavy locks. On the shoulders the coat's length is 6" or more; its under coat is fine and tight.
Character:	Briards are tough and do not like to be teased. Brave and alert, they're loyal to their family.
Temperament:	This breed usually along well with other pets, as long as proper training and socialization has occurred early on. They can be slightly aggressive toward other dogs, however, and may be suspicious of (human) strangers.
Care:	Its long coat needs brushing or combing every other day.
Training:	This breed requires patience and a very firm and consistent trainer.
Activity:	The Briard requires a good deal of exercise.
Country of Origin:	France
Health Issue:	This breed is generally healthy, but can be prone to progressive retinal atrophy, cataracts, and hip dysplasia. They may also be prone to bloat and stomach torsion.
Life Expectancy:	10-12
