Posted Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Thank you for stopping by to see me! Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting. If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <underdogrescuepetml> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ATLAS PET SUPPLY — Sat, March 30 1pm – 3pm — 12761 Central Ave NE, Blaine, MN DOB: approximate early May 2012 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: See bio Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Requires a fenced yard: Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area My name is Luca. I’m the happiest, friendliest most optimistic little 19lb guy you’ll ever meet. Nothing keeps me down and trust me, my life has had everything. Even when I had 32 rotten, root canal worthy teeth in my mouth and untreated Lyme disease with mats all over the place in my fur, I was just a happy cuddly dude with an appetite. Now that I'm on the mend, I'm still the same happy go lucky, curious dude, just with way more energy! I love food, literally all food, it doesn't matter. My love of food will be your best friend during my training. My foster dad certainly appreciates my singular motivation. You may have to teach me that toys aren't food though; I may have pooped out a couple pieces of small green plastic once. Opps .. hee hee. I've got lots and lots of fur, so I'm very soft and fluffy, but I'll also need lots of brushing. Oh and my bark is super cute, very Mike Tyson ’esque. However, unlike Mike, I don’t bite- just a lot of wagging, face sniffing and the occasional kiss here and there. I like checking out new things inside and outside on walks. I want to sniff ALL the things. Oh, and I really like chew toys that squeak; I’ll chase them around and pounce on them. When on a good schedule, I’m really close to being house trained. I must say that I do have excellent bladder control. I have a fear of going potty in front of people though. I have started going pee outside with my foster dad. He uses a long lead, so I can be far away, but I only go poo outside if my foster dad lets me out on the back deck alone. I’ll wait until the door closes and he steps away from the glass. I don’t know where he goes after that, but I feel safe to go then. I do really well in a small crate at night; although, I’ve been spending time in a big playpen following my surgery. I will bark for attention, especially now that I’m feeling better. I can’t wait to get back to my smaller kennel at night and being able to exercise more. My foster dad says that I’ll get my chew toys back too. Yah! I’m learning some words such as: ‘sit’, 'go potty’, ‘do your business', as well as 'leave it'; I already know 'come' and will 'sit', but I don’t stay seated yet. I haven’t been tested with little people yet, but I have zero aggression, so I’m sure I’ll be fine. I never met big dogs either; there is a female Terrier in my foster home and she’s okay. I sniff and play with her. She did give me warning nip once that put me in my place. All I want is the simple life- to be loved and eat treats. Can you give me that? If so, we should met sometime. Contact my people and they’ll sent something up. Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: .underdogrescuemn/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at .underdogrescuemn/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website .underdogrescuemn/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Me – Garrett aka the Love Bug. How is that for an intro? I can tell you much more. My favs (in no particular order) are: going for walks, being outside, snuggling, car rides, and playing with toys. I love treats such as freeze dried meat bites and Zuke’s minis. I just love all food, but I’m at 23lb, so I’m trying to lose some extra weight. Good nutrition and limiting treats is important for me. I am happy to report that I am house trained, but I do use a belly band at times just in case. I am crate trained as well. I walk so very nicely on a leash. I am learning ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ as well. I’ve only ever been with small dogs, but since I love everyone, I bet larger dogs, kids, and cats would be great too. Sometimes I bark when someone comes in to let me out of the crate. I am pretty excited to get out of there; I just want to be with everyone! Life is so interesting and I’m very curious about new things. When I’m not figuring out the world, I just wanna snuggle; the closer I am to my people, the better! Now, who doesn’t love that?
