  • Boxer-German Wirehaired Pointer Mix Dog For Adoption in Englewood, CO, USA

    Truman

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Boxer-German Wirehaired Pointer Mix
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Boxer / German Wirehaired Pointer / Mixed (medium coat). My name is Truman. I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. I came to CCR from a owner relinquishment in Denver. CCR believes that I might be a Boxer/German Wirehair breed mix (just a guess by shelter and vet personnel) and I am approximately 7-8 years old. My foster parents tell me I have a kooky personality, maybe it has something to do with my mohawk and big underbite. I am a sweet boy with people, although I have not been around a lot of kids. Since I am starting to enjoy my senior years, I prefer not to share my humans and would need to be the only dog in the house. I do well with cats, I don't even notice they're around until there rubbing against me. I am crate trained and walk well on a leash. I am also trained to use the dog door in my foster's house and will need to go to a home with a yard. I love to go for car rides and hang out with my people. I like to go into the hardware stores because the workers give me treats! I do like to chase the squirrels on the fence (but I think that they are there for my enjoyment because they tease me). In the house I love to stare out the door or windows at the wildlife (squirrels, birds, bunnies, deer), but I don't like those pesky raccoons, don't worry I will keep the yard safe from them. I have been known to be a barker and know what a bark collar is. I sleep on a big comfy dog bed next to yours at night and will only get on the bed if you tell me it is ok. I take treats extra gentle and love fruits and vegetables. I love to chew on dog bones, and play with some toys. I like to go for walks and hikes, I like to play in the water and have been fishing in the mountains. I have been on a boat and love to have the wind just blow through my hair. Truman will do best with an experienced dog owner/handler. If you are interested in adopting Truman, please submit an adoption application located on our website, coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $200 adoption donation. He is neutered, housebroken, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. In addition, most dogs listed as potty trained will experience an adjustment period as they learn the routines in their new home.

    Kirie

    rescue
Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). My name is Kirie. I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. I came to CCR from Canon City Colorado. There is very little history on me. CCR has been told I am a pit bull breed mix, but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians. It is said when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Well Kirie has had quite a few lemons handed to her in her 4 year life span, but definitely making the best lemonade that she can. Kirie was adopted out from CCR as a young dog but two years later wound up in the Aurora Shelter, having been abandoned. They called us so we could take her back into our rescue. Kirie has had TPLO surgery since being returned to us, going through training with a behaviorist, and a foster has worked diligently to get her past her pulling on the leash, and help her master her needs to attack water spouts and sprinkler heads. Kirie still has separation issues, but does well in the foster home left with other dogs and free reign within the home. She is on a generic Prozac to help her manage with anxiety. Kirie loves to snuggle with her people on the couch and in bed and absolutely loves to give kisses. She is looking for a family that will give her plenty of attention, be home more than not, play fetch, take her on walks in the neighborhood. She adores children and is very gentle with them. Kirie so looks forward to rides in the car. She would enjoy being an only dog, but would do fine with a furry companion that has a laissez-faire attitude. She does best if the door is open or a doggie door for her to go out as needed. She needs a more experienced dog owner because she has been through so much in life. If you are interested in adopting Kirie, please submit an adoption application located on our website, .coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $200 adoption donation for Kirie. Kirie being a bully breed, will only be placed in communities that do not have a ban on bullies. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter.

    Harley

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Border Collie
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Border Collie (short coat). Harley is available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a non-profit dog rescue located in the Denver area. Harley is a sweet girl but can be shy when first meeting new people. Harley's foster family and veterinarian suggest she is a Border Collie mix and approximately 2 ½ years old. She came to us from Texas in September of 2017 after Hurricane Harvey, so we do not have a lot of background information for her. We do think that experience was very stressful on her and impacted her behavior. But, she has overcome a lot and is a great dog! She is great with most dogs, enjoys supervised playgroups, going on walks, and could even do well with a confident cat. Harley would do best with high school aged kids, as she can be timid with new people. When we say Harley has overcome a lot, we are not kidding. She has completed a board and train program and learned how to be much more confident. Harley has opened up so much with her foster mom and has learned how to sit, stay, come, give paw, wait for cue to eat along alongside her foster mom's dogs, gives high fives when asked, and is working on learning "pretty girl." She is a laid-back, mellow, and very smart. She doesn't bark or talk much, unless the foster mom's dogs are barking. Harley is treat motivated and very eager to learn. Harley would love a family that would be patient with her until she gets to know them and would love to have another doggie companion to play with in yard in a fenced yard. Harley is not much in to cuddling on couch with you but will follow you everywhere you go and sit close by, especially when you are eating (loves getting scraps/crumbs). Harley's ideal family would be a compassionate, patient family with a nice size yard. 6ft fencing is highly recommended for when she gets the crazies or zoomies (Harley can jump over a 4ft fence no problem). Harley really likes her kennel especially with a blanket covering it for her to relax in when she feels nervous or tired. She would do great with another companion(s) to play with. Harley also loves car rides, going for walks and hikes, and doing anything outdoors. If you are interested in adopting Harley, please submit an application located on our website, .coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $200.00 adoption donation. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs, as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. CCR also cannot guarantee no potty accidents will happen even though dog is stated potty trained. It is not uncommon till dog learns new potty routine and gets familiar with new family for this to happen. Please note that CCR cannot hold dogs, arrange meet and greets or adopt out any dogs without a completed and approved adoption application.

    Chantilly

    rescue
    Breed: Chihuahua-Unknown Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). My name is Chantilly, I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR): a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. My foster mom and vet have guessed I am some sort of Chihuahua mix. I am probably around 2 years old. I was found by a woman in New Mexico who cared for my 5 babies and myself until they were 5 weeks old, and then could no longer care for me. I was surrendered to a shelter, and luckily was able to go to rescue the following day. I have been a great mommy, but now I would like to be a baby. I am fine with other dogs, I think I would be fine with cats, and I have lived with young children. I am gentle, sweet, and mellow. I love wrestling with my puppies now that they are almost fully weaned. I adore my humans and love to be held and to snuggle up on their shoulder. I love going outside and exploring. I will definitely need a solid fence or I may slip out and see what’s happening around town. I sleep in my crate without issues. I prefer to be with my human though. If I lived with no other animals, that would be fine. I love getting all of the attention. Sometimes I get a little jealous, but overall I have an amazing temperament. I am mostly quiet. I have whiney bark I occasionally let out. I usually complain if my foster mom is giving my babies baths and not letting me over to help. I am not a huge fan of mealtime. Probably because I make sure my babies get their needs met first right now. I like my kibble topped with something a little enticing. I don’t eat much. I am thin (maybe 10 pounds, if that) and I have long legs. I am a bigger than a purebred Chihuahua. My dream home is someone who takes care of me and lets me get spoiled. I have worked so hard to care for my puppies. I have been so relieved to have help caring for them (I even leave them with my canine roommates). I have a lot of love behind my eyes and will adore my human forever. If you are interested in adopting Chantilly, please submit an application located on our website, .coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $200.00 adoption donation. Chantilly will be spayed (as of May 1, 2019), up to date on vaccinations, and micro-chipped. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs, as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. Please note that CCR cannot hold dogs, arrange meet and greets or adopt out any dogs without a completed and approved adoption application.

    Finley

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Boxador
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Finley is available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a non-profit dog rescue located in the Denver area. She came from an overcrowded shelter in New Mexico. We, along with shelter staff and our veterinarians, are guessing her to be an approximately 1 ½ year old Labrador Retriever/Boxer mix. Finley is a sweet, bouncy bundle of fun! When she is happy or told she is a good girl her whole body wiggle with joy! A bit shy when first meeting new people, she warms up quickly and you will soon be BFFs. She is excellent with children, good with other dogs but would probably be to curious with cats. Finley is not possessive of treats, toys or food. She is house trained, using a dog door to go potty outside. She has a medium-high energy level - boundless energy outside yet quiet and calm inside. She gets two 20 minute walks per day and can get a bit amped up when encountering reactive dogs, but is easily corrected. Finley gets a lot of running/playtime in the backyard with her foster’s 2 medium sized dogs.Finley does well with free reign of the house, but doesn't mind some crate time. She loves car rides. She sleeps soundly on a dog bed in the master bedroom. Finley is lean and lanky; 21 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 43 lbs. She is very trainable, loves to learn and already knows several basic commands. Finley’s ideal life will be with someone living in a house with a good-sized fenced (4 ft. or taller) backyard, as she needs room to run. She would love children to dote on her, although toddlers could accidentally be knocked over by her wagging tail. She could be a solo dog or live with another well-behaved, playful dog. Finley will thrive with a person/family who will continue positive reinforcement training and keep her active (running, hiking, possibly agility training) and include her in all phases of their life and treat her like family. If you are interested in adopting Finley, please submit an adoption application located on our website, .coloradocaninerescue. We are asking for a $200 adoption donation for Finley. She is spayed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Please note: CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs, as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. Please note that CCR cannot hold dogs, arrange meet and greets or adopt out any dogs without a completed and approved adoption application.
