  • Great Pyrenees-Husky Mix Dog For Adoption in Garfield Heights, OH, USA

    Ivory

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Great Pyrenees-Husky Mix
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Great Pyrenees / Husky / Mixed (short coat). To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit .caninelifeline/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application. Ivory is a very friendly 1.5 year-old Great Pyrenees/Husky mix female who’s eager for a home of her very own. Although she loves to play with other dogs in her foster home, she doesn’t like to share toys, treats, chewies etc with other dogs so would do best in a home as an only dog. She would likely enjoy doggie daycare but then relaxing in her own home without having to compete with any other canines there. Ivory doesn’t do well with cats so will need a kitty-free home. She does need a yard with an aboveground fence as she doesn’t respect an invisible fence. Ivory is likely to pick up the housetraining rules quickly in her new home. She does very well in her crate in her foster home. She knows some commands and walks nicely on a leash after she gets over the initial excitement of going for a walk. Ivory is going to make a great pal for someone who has the time and energy to devote to an active young dog. She weighs about 62 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email infocaninelifeline if you’re interested in Ivory. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at .caninelifeline to see more photos of Ivory and to submit an online application.

    Casey

    Breed: Mutt
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young

Posted Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit .caninelifeline/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application. Casey is an active and energetic 9-10 month-old Black Lab mix neutered male who finds himself looking for a new home. He was adopted from us in the spring as a 4 month-old pup but recently returned as he has more energy and needs more training than his family was able to provide for him. Although they did go through puppy class with Casey, he is a high energy boy and was the only dog in their home. Now that he’s back with us, Casey spends his days wrestling and playing chase with his fellow foster dogs. We do want to place him in a home with another active young canine pal or two to help him blow off some steam on a daily basis. A tired dog is a good dog and much easer to train! In addition to a home with other dogs, we do want to place him in a home with a large fenced yard for him to play in. A secure aboveground fence is preferred. Casey is housetrained, crate-trained, and knows many commands including sit, shake hands, stay, wait, leave it, and lay down. He gets very excited to go for a walk so still needs to work on his leash manners. Using an EZ Walk harness as he works on that will make walks much more enjoyable. Casey did live in a home with kids (8 and 11 years of age) but was too rambunctious and mouthy for them. In his previous home, he did show some resource guarding of his food bowl so will need a new owner who knows how to modify this behavior. In his foster home, he eats in his crate and we haven’t observed this behavior. We are looking for adopters who will commit to additional obedience training with Casey. Canine Lifeline will offer a $50 rebate once a 6-8 week training course with an approved trainer is completed in his new home. Casey weighs about 55 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email infocaninelifeline if you’re interested in Casey. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please visit .caninelifeline/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application. Meet Rose, a 1 year-old Border Collie mix girl with long legs, beautiful markings, and a wonderful disposition. She was adopted from a shelter as a puppy about a year ago but recently returned to the shelter because her family could no longer care for her. Rose is an active young dog who loves playing with other dogs. She might do fine in the home as the only dog provided her family has plenty of time to spend exercising her and working with her on obedience training. She’s a smart dog who picks up new routines quickly so would love a new family who would challenge her with regular training to keep her on her toes. Rose does well in a crate and may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. She will make a great walking or jogging buddy once she has a little more leash work onboard. Rose weighs about 55 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. Please visit .caninelifeline/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application. Daphne is a painfully shy 2 year-old Lab mix female who came to us last summer along with her mom Tory and brothers Tag and Dutch. Their world was completely upended when they were all surrendered to a county dog shelter by their previous owner. Daphne was the shyest of the group and was the last to be adopted. She was adopted last August but returned to us in February because of her extreme shyness and inability to adjust to suburban living. Daphne is a loving dog with people that she knows but it does take her time to warm up and feel comfortable with someone new. She absolutely LOVES other dogs though so must go to a home where there is at least one other dog who will play with her and help her adjust to her new environment. Daphne went to doggie daycare in her previous home and felt very comfortable there. She is very fearful of noises and traffic so urban/suburban living is too stressful for her. Daphne needs a quiet home in the country with other dogs and a secure aboveground fenced yard. This is the situation in her current foster home and she is comfortable there. She is crate-trained and should pick up the house rules with some patience and consistent direction in her new home. Whoever is able to give her the time and patience to allow her to overcome her shyness is sure to be rewarded with a wonderful companion for years to come. Daphne does walk on a leash but is usually too frightened to enjoy going for a walk which is why a large secure fenced in yard is essential for her. In the video, Daphne is wearing the pink collar and her adoptable pal Caleb is wearing the blue collar. Daphne weighs about 55 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. Please email infocaninelifeline if you’re interested in Daphne. Please visit .caninelifeline/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application. Meet Ginger, a shy but extremely sweet 1 year-old Lab mix female with beautiful brown highlights throughout her coat but especially on her legs. Ginger found herself homeless at an overcrowded rural county dog shelter so made the trip to Canine Lifeline so she would be able to relax in a foster home while searching for a permanent new home. Although she’s quite shy initially when meeting new people, Ginger warms up quickly once she knows someone wants to be her friend. She loves to be around other dogs so would do best in a home with a canine pal or two to help boost her confidence and show her the ropes in her new home. A secure aboveground fenced yard would also be ideal for her given her shyness. Ginger has had excellent crate manners in her foster home so should be able to pick up the house rules quickly in her new home. Walking on a leash is still a work in progress for Ginger as it’s likely that was something she had never experienced before coming to the shelter. She tends to stay close to the ground and wind around her walker’s legs but with more practice and following the lead of another dog, she is sure to be walking like a pro in no time. Ginger weighs about 46 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. Please visit .caninelifeline/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application. This sweet girl is Rosalita, a 1 year-old who looks to be a mix of Border Collie and Boxer. She has a slight underbite which only adds to her charm in our book! We have no history on this friendly pup as she came to us from a shelter. Since coming to us, we can tell you that Rosalita absolutely LOVES people as well as other dogs. She has a great time playing with her fellow foster dogs and enjoys giving every dog she meets a kiss on the face. Rosalita is working on crate-training and housetraining in her foster home and with some patient and consistent training on the part of her new family, she should have the house rules mastered fairly quickly. Rosalita is a little unsure about what leash walking is all about but with some daily practice in her new neighborhood, will soon be walking like a pro. Rosalita weighs about 35 pounds now but is working on gaining about 5 more to be at her ideal weight. Her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. Caleb is a very sweet and loving 1.5 year-old Lab mix male who was found as a stray as a puppy in KY and kept for many months in an outdoor pen there. His owner finally realized this was no life for him and reached out to a local humane society for help finding a home for him. From there he made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he would be able to relax in a foster home while he searches for a permanent new home. Caleb has made great strides in his foster home but will need a kind and patient family to work with him as he adjusts to his new life. So many things are new to him. He really enjoys the company of other dogs so we do want to place him in a home with a confident canine who will show him the ropes. Caleb has done well with crate-training so should pick up the house rules quickly in his new home. He has been working on his leash skills and is getting much more comfortable with that. Breed: Dalmatian-Labrador Retriever Mix

Posted Breed: Dalmatian / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit .caninelifeline/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application. Reese is a 5-year-old Dalmatian mix male with a big personality. He came to us from a local county dog shelter as a heartworm positive stray. He successfully completed heartworm treatment and is now heartworm free! Heartworm disease isn’t the only hardship sweet Reese has overcome. Reese likely had a rough life before coming to Canine Lifeline to find a forever home. We can only assume that he spent a lot of time on the end of a chain. This often leads a dog to bark incessantly out of frustration and boredom. Someone had our poor boy debarked and probably stuck him back out on a chain until he got loose and ended up in the shelter. Now he sounds much like a sea lion when he vocalizes. Despite his rough start, Reese is a very sweet dog. He has been very well behaved in the house. He has not gotten into anything that is not his. He did not get up on any furniture until invited, but now that he has, he has his special spot on his blanket on the couch. This is where he prefers to sleep at night as well. He is house trained. However, he does not do well for long work days without having accidents. He would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time. Reese also has a lot of energy until he gets his walk/run. After a brisk walk/jog of a few miles, he settles down nicely for the rest of the day/evening. He would make someone a fantastic jogging partner, but at the least needs someone ready to walk or hike daily. While Reese pulls when leashed on a collar, he does very well on a harness. He loves to play with other dogs and has gotten along well with all dogs he's met at the park, even a few who have gotten a little snarky with him. He just wants to be everyone's friend and would benefit from a playful canine buddy in his new home. Reese is a talented escape artist who is capable of jumping a 4-foot fence. He also appears to have a strong prey instinct when it comes to squirrels and bunnies. We would love to see him find a home with a privacy fence where he could run and play freely. Reese also has a sensitive stomach. After some pretty bad tummy issues this fall and changing food multiple times, he is doing very well on Whole Hearted grain free easy digestion potato and egg formula as well as grain free treats. He has put a little meat on his bones and now weighs about 55 pounds. Reese is silly and inquisitive and loves to play tug and fetch. He rides well in the car on the way to the park and is definitely ready to go off on adventures with a very lucky new family. His adoption fee is $200. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email infocaninelifeline if you’re interested in Reese. An approved application is required before we set up meets with any of our dogs. Breed: Doxle

Posted Breed: Beagle / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit .caninelifeline/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application. Eddie is a 7 year-old Beagle/Doxie mix male who was adopted from us 6 years ago but returned in August 2016 because his family’s circumstances had changed and they were no longer able to care for him. Sadly, he came back to us very obese. Eddie's ideal weight is about 30 pounds but when he was returned to us, he weighed in at a staggering 55 pounds. Thanks to his great foster mom, Eddie is now down to about 36 pounds with a strict diet and exercise program. His photos were taken in August 2018 and show how he looks now. We'd love to see Eddie lose those last few pounds and reach his ideal weight. Everyone knows that those last few pounds are always the hardest to lose but Eddie feels so much better now and is committed to getting back to his healthiest and staying that way. Fortunately, he loves carrots and green beans as treats. Eddie will need a new home where his family will commit to his healthy lifestyle. Eddie does not like being crated so his foster mom has left him loose in the house when she's gone and he has been fine with that. He is house-trained and walks nicely on a leash too. Eddie doesn't like to share his things (or people!) with other dogs so would prefer to be the only dog in the home. He would love a new home where his family is around much of the time but no kids please as they make him nervous. Eddie does like to try to chase bicycles, joggers, etc on his walks so will need some follow up training in that area. He also likes to chase small animals so needs a home without kitties. The ideal home for Eddie is with a mature single person or couple who live in a quiet rural area where he won't be overwhelmed with a lot of traffic, people walking by, and city noises. He would love it if his humans would be able to spend lots of time with him. Eddie would enjoy having a secure aboveground fenced yard where he could get lots of exercise keeping the squirrels and chipmunks at bay as well as daily walks in a quiet, rural setting. Eddie's foster mom has taught him many commands including sit, stay, come, down, shake hands, and beg (his serious food focus helps with training!) and he can also catch treats on the fly like a pro. Eddie is a funny dog with lots of character. He loves sitting on chairs--any chair--his foster mom often finds him sitting politely on a dining room or kitchen chair as if he's waiting for dinner to be served! Once Eddie makes friends with someone, you've got a friend for life but he will need an experienced owner who is able to give Eddie the space he needs to adjust to his new home and family. He can become quite protective of his home and family so his introduction to visitors in the home must be done carefully--or better yet, give Eddie something to chew on in another room when company comes and he'll be happy as a clam. His adoption fee is $150. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. Since he's been back with us, Eddie has had a dental cleaning so has a beautiful white smile. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email infocaninelifeline if you’re interested in Eddie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Posted Breed: Rat Terrier (short coat). To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit .caninelifeline/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application. If you like your dogs active and pint-sized, look no further than Sweet Pea! This little 8 year-old, 11 pound dynamo is a Rat Terrier mix who finds herself in need of a new home. She belonged to an elderly lady who recently developed health problems and was no longer able to care for her Sweet Pea. Sweet Pea had been staying in a boarding facility for several months while the lady’s family sought a rescue for her. She recently moved to a foster home with Canine Lifeline while she searches for a permanent new home. We have discovered that Sweet Pea really prefers to be the only pet in her new home. She’s not a fan of other dogs and gets especially annoyed if another dog tries to play with her. She had always lived as an only pet and would like to continue that in her new home. We did introduce her to kitties and she would much rather not share their company either! Although she’s quite a spunky gal, Sweet Pea is looking for a home with a mature family—one or two adults—without a lot of visitors. She will be absolutely devoted to her new family but prefers to avoid a lot of chaos and confusion that comes with lots of visitors to her home. Sweet Pea has done well on crate-training in her foster home and should pick up the housetraining rules quickly in her new home. After being in a boarding kennel for several months, she is likely to need a little direction on that in her new home. Sweet Pea loves to go for a walk and keeps up a brisk pace. We think she’s got lots of good years ahead of her and is eager to share her love with someone special. Sweet Pea weighs about 11 pounds and her adoption fee is $150. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. She recently had a much-needed dental cleaning and now has a pearly white smile. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized.
