    Breed: Shih Tzu
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shih Tzu (long coat). Adoption Fee: $I'm special!. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: March 2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, health of owner. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted. Weight: 16.3 Height: Estimated 11" at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No. What kind of home would be best for me? I would do well in a quiet, structured home with firm owners and as an only dog home. What is my personality like? "I am the type of dog that loves affection but only on my terms! I do not need to be cuddled up in someone's lap all of the time and I am perfectly content doing my own thing. I spend most of my days curled up in a comfy blanket and napping. I do not know any basic commands but I do walk well on a leash. Although, I do not care too much for being outside.. I am a lazy boy. I can be stubborn and if you push me, I will snap at you. Please don't pick me up, that makes me uncomfortable. I know how to crate myself when asked and I love treats. I ignore cats. I need a home with owners that are experienced with stubborn boys like me! How I act when I first meet new people: I do not care for people I do not know very much. They can win me over with treats. Other Tips and Tidbits: I'm like a sour patch kid.. first I'm sour, then I'm sweet! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 3/20/2009 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

Teddy had a cyst on his eye which we have had drained. It needs watched. Teddy's previous owner said that Teddy was hearing impaired. He does appear to have some impairment but he makes up for it with other senses. Weight: 17 lb Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Teddy is a sweet old man who would do well in a quiet home. He's lived with retirees all his life and would like that life again. Teddy would love to be the only dog in the home but more importantly without cats. What is my personality like? Teddy is a senior citizen just looking for his retirement home! He is fairly calm, and would love to share a couch with his human. Given his age, he still likes to chase a tennis ball every now and again. Unfortunately Teddy does not want to share his tennis balls and will growl if you try to get it back from him. This is something that can be worked with! We have noticed that Teddy does let out a tiny growl when being picked up. It is possible that that is just something he is not used to quite yet. Teddy lives for yummy treats, and will follow you around wherever you are going if you happen to have a snack in you hands. He does know how to sit well and walks on a leash! So far he has gotten along great with other dogs but would love a home where can be the only child. Teddy does not like cats, although he has never hurt them he does bark in their face and pounces. How do I act when I first meet new people? A little cautious but comes around quickly. Other tips and tidbits: Teddy is ready to take it easy in his new forever home House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 03/17/18 (returned when owner had a baby) Reason for being in rescue: Carter and his litter mates originally came to CPR in 2011. He was adopted but had to be returned in March of 2018 due to lifestyle changes of his owner Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Carter is on a low dose of trazadone due to anxiety. Starting in July we're adding CBD oil to his regimen to see if this more holistic approach will help him and wean him off the CBD, He is also wearing a bark (sound only) collar and it has helped his anxiety levels immensely. When he gets excited and starts barking, the sound reminds him to stop and realize there is no danger and he can relax. Weight: 25 lbs est Height: 16 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No but Carter loves to run. He needs a good space several times a week to run and romp off leash and he needs daily walks of at least 5 miles (split into a couple of walks). He has excellent energy and loves to see the world. What kind of home would be best for me? Carter would thrive in a home with consistency, routine, exercise and stability. He had that for his first several years but then things changed. He would love to have that back. He is fine with most people but occasionally he meets someone he does not trust and once that happens, that does not change. He has been put through many people changes in his life and he wants a home where everyone stays the same. What is my personality like? With those he loves, Carter is affectionate, happy and a lot of fun. He loves to snuggle and will happily sleep next to you all night. He is eager to please and eager to learn. He knows the basics but would really benefit from some advanced obedience. In his previous home, he was reactive on leash towards dogs and people but we're working on that and he's much better. How do I act when I first meet new people? He can be cautious at first but to those he loves he warms up quickly. Other tips and tidbits: Carter was adopted by a young (high school) student and her family when he was a puppy. Sadly, lives change and Carter's young owner took a different path then the one she was originally on. She left her home and could not take Carter with her. Her parents like Carter but want a life where they can travel. Her sister tried to bring Carter into her home but Carter did not care for her boyfriend so Carter came back to the farm to try again. It is our commitment to our dogs to always be here for them. Carter is now a middle aged mixed breed and his chances of winning the new home lottery are slim but we are going to try. He has a lot of love to give the right person. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. None noted Weight: 42 lb Height: unknown Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away. Maverick is incredibly shy and cautious about people. He is also a known resource guarder who will snap if he is surprised. Given this, he needs a very experienced owner where there are no children in the home. What is my personality like? Maverick is a quiet boy for an 18 month old labradoodle. He enjoys going on walks, but is never interested in being far from his people. Maverick is slow to trust. When he trusts you, he trusts you completely. But earning this level of trust takes a while. Maverick is very cautious about new people. He is not a dog that a stranger can walk up to and pet. He is also unpredictable with children. We believe that Maverick has a lot of positive personality to show. He is working on overcoming his fears, but it is a process. Maverick needs a very patient and experienced owner who will work with him. He also needs a home where there are few visitors and where he can live an active lifestyle. How do I act when I first meet new people? Very timid. Maverick is working on building confidence, but is very shy when he meets new people. Other tips and tidbits: Maverick can be a great dog in the right home. He needs a patient, experienced owner who will give him a chance. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. CPR pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Horrible ears - we've resolved the infection but he will need to be watched for life on his ears. It's probably allergy related. Weight: 14.2 lb Height: 13 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Marty Doodle requires a special home that would be willing to work around his quirks and help him become the dog he has the potential to be. He needs an experienced dog owner with the patience to earn his trust. What is my personality like? Marty's behavior leads us to believe that his past has not been the best, and he doesn't understand why he was abandoned, tied to the outside of the animal shelter. When first meeting Marty Doodle, it can be a little alarming. He barks, and he will nip at you if you do not give him time to adjust before approaching him to give him attention. It seems like he has not had any basic training or know what it is really like to be someone's pet. Leashes scare him, and he is just now getting around to chasing tennis balls. However, Marty does like treats and this is the way to his heart. So far he has gotten along with other dogs he has met but he does bark at them like he's never been around other dogs before. We know this boy deserves to have a special person help him, and we hope we can do that for him! How do I act when I first meet new people? Cautious and nervous Other tips and tidbits: Marty Doodle is a special boy, and needs a special human to understand him. House trained? Ollie has no known medical issues but is very strong willed. He despises other dogs and cats and needs to be in a home where he does not have contact with other canines or cats. He will attack other dogs. It is sad because he was not like this originally but something changed. Weight: 46 lbs Height: 21" at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Our owner experince level for Ollie is an 8 - More than 10 years as dog owner and preferrably with a terrier breed. Has taken at least three professional training courses. Long history of superior vet care. No history of rehoming or rehoming only for serious lifestyle challenge, worked through reputable rescue to place and follows up. What is my personality like? I'm Ollie Beckett and if my name wasn't already cute enough.. just look at my sweet face. I was found a stray in North Carolina and taken to a local shelter. I was actually just saved in the nick of time... I was making my way to be sent to doggie heaven until the lady walking me to "the room" saw my tail wag and it was all over from there. She begged and of course CPR said yes! I'm a silly boy that loves all humans. I can't possibly give out enough hugs for everyone around here. I will love you through the good times, and bad times. I will be your best friend through it all, given the chance. I walk well on a leash but I love love love sniffing everything I can so please let's make some walks slow walks. I don't know any basic commands yet but I bet I could learn. One of my favorite things to do is roll around on the couch and nuzzle under every blanket I can get under. I love, and I love hard, Please take me home! Update 6/18- I was returned to the rescue because I did not get along with some dogs that I have met. It was also said that I have separation anxiety and that I have lunged at people/cars going by. So far, the caregivers have not seen this behavior at the rescue either time I have been here. How do I act when I first meet new people? friendly House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 8/24/2016 Please note - we do not ship dogs.

Date into Rescue: Originally 3/29/16 and he was returned December 2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release due to a change in the owner's life Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes - behavior. Oliver was adopted in May of 2016 but returned to us primarily for biting several people. He was so friendly when he was first here; we are not really sure why this changed happened in Oliver. He needs someone to understand him. He does not like being bothered while in his crate. To him that is his space and no one else's. He WILL warning growl at you while in his crate to let you know he does not want to be bothered. He also does not like anyone messing with his food. If he is not familiar with you, then he does not like you being in his face. He needs his trust earned before you go romp and play in the fields with him. Oliver has not bitten anyone at our rescue, but he has shown his teeth and snapped when engaging in play with a caregiver he isn't familiar with. With the caregivers he is familiar with he is his normal sweet and silly self outside of his crate. He eventually turns into a dog that loves attention, baby talk, and playing. Weight: 53 lb Height: About 24 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Oliver needs an all adult home that has a soft spot for troubled souls and is familiar with moody dogs. What is my personality like? Oliver is a mocking bird, if you are quiet and reserved, he is also quiet and reserved. If you are rough and running around, he is also rough and running around. He notices everything and is very curious. He is extremely loving and playful. Oliver's personality really depends on you. He loves to be a couch potato but he will also go for a long run when you want to. Oliver knows how to sit, shake, and lay down (with a reward of a treat of course! :) ) He loves to go for long walks beside you and then roll around in the grass on his back. How do I act when I first meet new people? Oliver was originally very loving and affectionate to people, but he is no longer as open to strangers and needs patience. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. She had been hit by a car and needed immediate medical care. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Josephina was unfortunately hit by a car, causing her to have a leg injury. She has had surgery but still walks with a limp at times. This does not slow Josephina down at all and still plays like a puppy! Weight: 38 lbs Height: unknown Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Josephina would love an active home with owners who are okay with puppy like behavior! She would also love another dog in the home. What is my personality like? Josephina is a joy to be around! She loves everyone - dogs included. She has a great temperament, and is always happy. Treats are one of her favorite things and she is willing to learn anything for a snack! So far Josephina has done well on a leash but with more training she is only getting better. When tested with the cat she paid no mind and was on to her next adventure. She is not your typical poodle puppy you would see here, but her love and personality exceeds our expectations considering everything she has been through. Josephina deserves a family of her very own! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: We don't know what Josephina's past had been, but her future is surely bright!
