Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). What a gorgeous dog--this is Ava. She is a lab/terrier mix. She is housebroken, crate trained, and knows how to sit, stay, lay down, and come- she is a very smart dog. She needs some work on the leash and she is inconsistent around other dogs so we think placement as an only dog will be best. Sometimes she is friendly with other dogs and other times she is not. She is SOOOO friendly with kids (she actually prefers them over adults!) She plays ball, squeaks her squeaker toys, and rolls around with kids. She gives lots of kisses (licks) to them as well:)))) She will be 2 years only in April. She is up to date on all of her shots. She weighs about 44 pounds. She is so sweet and so smart. She follows commands very well. It's pretty tough for her current family to continue working with her due to her strength, and the age of her current person, so we are trying to help her mom find just the right place for her. Please start with an application, found here: friendsofcampbellcounty.org

Posted Breed: Bulldog / Beagle / Mixed (medium coat). This chunky little girl is quite fun to work with! She is about 2-1/2 years old, she’s already had one litter of puppies, but we don’t want her to have more! Scottie is about 50 pounds, extremely smart, and came to us already knowing sit, down, and over. We love her chunky fluffiness, and we love her sweet attitude. We are told she is not good with cats however and we assume that would apply to any small pets in the home. But she is great with other dogs and humans. Her foster mom says she fit in easily to the routine and she is a treasured houseguest. Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Cole has been in foster care while he has his heartworm treatment, which means he has one heartworm prevention pill every month for 12 months. This is called "slow-kill" heartworm treatment, and is only possible because Cole has the most awesome foster home ever.... one where he is loved, spoiled, and babied for the duration of the time of treatment. Cole's foster dad has been very good about making sure he gets his treatments on time, and is looking forward to the time Cole will be pronounced FREE from the disease, and can be adopted to just the right family! He is great with his foster dad, and other adults, and lived with kids in his first home, before he came to the shelter. At home, he loves to snuggle up with his human, but also enjoys time by himself playing with toys. He has a favorite squeaky ball that he loves to carry around, but he is always seen with a toy in his mouth, even when he goes on outings! We try so hard to describe him and his personality, but let's face it... you just really need to come and meet him! We're happy to set up a time for you to do that! Cole has a sponsored neuter too after he is heartworm free. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.

    Breed: Beagle-Unknown Mix

    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Beagle / Mixed (short coat). Gina has been in foster care for many months now. She is a long legged beagle mix, super with other dogs, but still learning to trust humans. Her first instinct in a new situation that makes her uncomfortable is to run away from the situation. Gina has lacked confidence since we took her in, and while she has made progress, she has a long way to go. She had been unsocialized with humans for several months before we took her, and is even now learning to be trusting of humans. We would love to see Gina adopted, but we want just the right placement. We are seeking a family who has had experience with shy dogs, with a quiet household—one who is up to a challenge—but most important, who have another sweet dog and a fenced yard—will be the perfect placement for this girl. Gina is about three years old, it’s totally vented, is house trained, and is a wonderful companion for other dogs. She is nonthreatening, love to play with toys, and eat well. She will run, and if scared will dart out the door. Sadly, there are many bagels in our local area who have not been exposed to many new things as they were growing up, and life is very difficult for them later. We do not give up however. We believe every dog has a home out there somewhere. Gina will remain in foster care until she finds at home! Posted Breed: Yellow Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Meet Sugar! Sugar is a two-year-old lab mix, and he is pretty special to several of us who volunteer at the shelter. He acts like he's going to eat you alive if he doesn't know you, but as soon as you tell him that you're going outside for a walk, he is absolutely fine with most people. Sugar has been in foster care for several months and has come so far when meeting strangers. He loves to hang with his foster family both inside and outside. He does not run off when outside and would love a farm to roam. He is trustworthy in the house when left alone. He is a loving, loyal companion waiting to meet you. Posted Breed: Hound (medium coat). It was clear when Marshall was taken to his foster thome that he had never been inside before, but he handled it very well. While at first he is a bit timid and jumpy with all the new experiences, he has transitioned ever so easily to being an indoor spoiled rotten dog. He probably would do best with another dog in the home. 4Marshall is about two years old. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Posted Breed: Basset Hound / Mixed (short coat). CJ has made a remarkable adjustment to his foster home and life as an indoor dog! He is fine with the horses on the farm, and is excellent with the other dogs in the home, once they establish who is the leader. He can be a bit grumpy with pushy dogs, but is happy to learn his place if it means he gets to stay in the home and not be thrown back out into a dog lot. His foster mom tells us he is the easiest foster dog she has ever had! Because he is a senior dog, though he acts much younger), we are not comfortable with him going to a home where there are kids under the age of 10. He loves older folks, and he loves working on the farm with them. He will be a great companion as he is non-demanding and fairly easy to care for. < Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Posted Breed: Boxer / Beagle / Mixed (short coat). Molly is a very active one year old who loves playing with other dogs and people. If walks are your thing, she is ready any time and is excellent on a leash. She does need training for jumping when she gets excited but when she calms down, she's very well mannered. We are guessing she must have had a problem in her previous home since some people upset her. She needs a home willing to work with her and build up her confidence. She needs an experienced family who will use only positive reinforcement training. We will recommend a trainer and even sponsor the first visit. Breed: Beagle

Posted Breed: Beagle (short coat). Cherry arrived in our care as a scared to death stray, found cowering in a field near the highway. She has been learning to be part of a family, but every new sound and sight and smell is new to her and it's not easy adapting to these things when you have been kept in a kennel with other dogs all your life! Cherry has been spayed and her cherry eyes have been repaired, and she is enjoying life a bit more now that she has no concerns about making babies, and can see more easily. She is still scared of new things, and if she ever got away, she'd probably be difficult to coax back, so we are hoping for a new home with a fenced yard for this little one! Cherry doesn’t even go outside, she uses puppy pads. She sometimes misses. I think she would go outside in a fenced yard, but we haven’t been successful with a leash. She is still too scared. Since her little escape act the other day, she has been trying to sneak out the front door. She is about 90% crate trained. She is in a foster home, and not at the shelter. Please do not call the shelter for information. Go directly to the application for fastest reponse. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org.
