    Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer (short coat). Meet Jens! He's a young handsome 2 year old who had a HORRIBLE start to life. He lives in Greece where there are no rescue resources and stray animals are literally tortured & abused with no repercussions to those that inflict the abuse. Jens was found thrown in the garbage with his tail mutilated/cutoff. He was found in time by some kind humans who saved his life and got him into a foster situation. But he needs a loving family of his own. Despite the treatment he endured, he LOVES people and is super friendly! He's good with cats, dogs and kids too! He walks nice on a leash and loves to explore and sniff everything he can. He's a very affectionate boy too who loves to cuddle :) He will be arriving in the US with his flight partner on April 24th and will be available for adoption shortly thereafter. He's fully vetted and healthy. If you are interested in this handsome fellow, please complete an adoption application on our website: www.gsprescuenj.com

Posted Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer (short coat). Raina is a 1 yr old German shorthair. She is spayed and up to date with vaccinations. Dew claws removed and her tail is docked. She is gun Shy and isn’t cat friendly.. She is house trained and loves a lap to sit on and is very affectionate. She is amazing with people and she does fine with other dogs. We are not sure how she is with cats. Raina will require a fenced in yard as her nose gets her into a bit of trouble by wondering to far. If you would like to set up a meet and greet your first step is filling out an application at wcahs.org only approved applications will have a meet and greet. Raina’s adoption fee is 400.00

Have a question? Please read our Frequently Asked Questions and Adoption Processed Explained documentation. Statistics Name: Rush Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer Age: 1.5 Years Size: Medium 42 lbs. ~Medium range: 26-60 lbs Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid by cash or check. Other: Neutered Male, Vaccinations current, Microchip Rush is a cute guy who needs a home! Foster Home Feedback 2/7/18: Rush has been with us for over a month now, and he has really settled in nicely. He gets along with all of the dogs he has met, but sometimes he needs reminding to leave our old cranky dog alone since he always wants to play. Rush is improving walking on a leash as well as his manners in the home. He is practically a Houdini when it comes to counter-surfing, so that is something we watch closely and are working with him on. Rush is incredibly smart, and he is responding well to training. He is a dog that really benefits from training and mental stimulation during these cold months! We can only guess that Rush would love to go on jogs with people, but his foster parents are not into running. Now that Rush has really settled down and has become less fearful in the home, we have found out that he LOVES to snuggle and cuddle!! He will come and sit on your lap on the couch or curl up next to you (or on top of you if you let him!) if you are laying in bed. Rush has figured out how to use the cozy cave dog bed and likes to go in there to hang out. Rush still acts a little puppy-ish, so small children are probably not the best match for him. He has met older, considerate children and done very well with them. Please consider adding this sweet and energetic boy to your family! 1/14/18: Rush is a sweet young boy with a lot of energy to share! He loves to follow his humans around the house, go for walks, and chew on his dog toys. Rush can be anxious when he meets new people, but he is working on it with his foster parents. This is something that new adopters will need to continue working on with him. Rush kennels during the day while his foster parents are at work. He is still getting used to being calm in his kennel, so he occasionally barks when he is in there. Because of his nervousness and anxiety, he is on a medication that helps keep him more calm and comfortable. Once Rush knows you and warms up to you, he will expect cuddles and pets from you! He met a cat and did just fine with the cat. Rush LOVES to play, play, play with other dogs and really enjoys their company. He would probably do best in a home with another dog, especially a dog that would like to play with him! Rush has not been around small children yet, but he still acts like a silly puppy sometimes and occasionally gets a little mouthy, so this is something adopters with children should keep in mind. He is a smart little guy looking for a home with patient adopters that are willing to help continue his training! Zeke

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer. Meet Zeke! Zeke was found as a stray in North Jersey and is estimated to be 16 to 18 months. He is small for a german shorthair at only 40 pounds but the vet says he could gain a little weight! Zeke seems to be new at living inside but is a quick learner and is trying his hardest to behave! He loves to chew and can play ball for hours! He is a high energy boy that loves to go for walks and does best when using a gentle leader. Zeke is used to being in his crate during the work day when his foster mom is gone (around 7 hours), but he will give you a hard time if he is crated while you are home! He is almost house broken with accidents few and far between! Zeke is not food aggressive with people and takes treats very nicely, but it is unknown how he will react around other dogs as he is the only dog in his foster home. He is very interested in meeting new people and wants to greet everyone he sees on the street however he takes a few moments to warm up before he allows people to pet him. Zeke has been working on training and is very good at sitting for a piece of chicken! Zeke will need a family committed to exercising him as he is used to walking a minimum of four miles a day. Because of his high energy and lack of training, Zeke will not be placed in a home with young children or with cats. Zeke does not seem to mind small dogs but tends to be dominant with ones his size, and is a very rough player. Zeke will also need a large fenced in yard to run around in! While it is unknown if Zeke was used before for hunting, he does have a high prey drive. If you are interested in Zeke, please fill out an adoption application on our website at www.gsprescuenj.com

    Sophie

    Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer (short coat). Meet Sophie. She’s about 8 years old and we assisted with her placement 7 years ago. She came to NJ from KS when our sister rescue in that area didn’t have the space to assist. Her living situation is going to change and her families feels a new home would be better than trying to manage her in a temporary environment for an extended period. Sophie is a lovely lady, about 60 lbs, current with her vetting, was diagnosed with Addison’s in 2017 but otherwise healthy with clean teeth and in good shape. Her Addison’s is managed with a small daily dose of prednisone that only costs about $20/month and annual bloodwork to monitor her levels and make adjustments as needed. Sophie is a happy, energetic GSP. She’s friendly and playful too. She love fetch and is a super chewer and so far has one favorite toy that indestructible for Sophie! She enjoys swimming. While she’s housebroken, she’s also used to the freedom of a dog door and she respects Invisible Fencing. If left unattended, she’s been known to jump 6’ fencing and can be a digger so IF is ideal for her containment. Sophie knows basic commands like sit, come, give and fetch. Sophie is not crate trained and while she has free roam in her home, her family doesn’t feel she’d do well being left for an extended period. They think she could be destructive if she doesn’t have an adequate outlet for her energy and/or the freedoms that a dog door provide her. Sophie lives with another GSP. Sophie is the alpha of the two and over the years, they have had a few incidents. We believe the ideal placement for Sophie would be an adult home where she’d be a single pet, have the freedom of a dog door and a yard with Invisible Fencing for containment - an environment very close to what she currently has. If you are interested in learning more about Sophie, please fill out an adoption application on our website: www.gsprescue.com

Posted Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer (short coat). Tyler is a goofy, fun boy! Meet Tyler this Sunday, April 1st 1-4pm at his open house in Cupertino, CA! RSVP for more details. He can’t wait to see you there! Tyler is a goofy 3 year old mix who we rescued from a shelter in Fresno. He loves being around people, is well-behaved and walks great on leash! Tyler’s favorite things, aside from loving on his people, are running around outside and car rides — he’d be the perfect running and errand partner for someone! Tyler is house trained, sleeps on a dog bed all night without a peep, and loves to please his humans. He’s a very loyal guy who really would love to find his forever people! Tyler loves people so much that he does get a little worried when left alone, but he’s working on it and does well in his current foster home when left in the house for a few hours. With some patience and love, we think he’ll improve even more over time. Tyler is extremely trainable and would love to find a home that wants to continue that training to help him thrive. In fact, training is so important to Tyler that the he will come with 6 months of training sponsored by the rescue for his forever home. If you’ve been looking for a fun four-legged companion who can make every day an adventure by your side, Tyler could be your guy! He’s currently accepting applications for a foster to adopt home and would love to meet you! Status: Available Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA Adoption $: Sponsored! Tyler’s adoption will also come with 6 months of training funded by rescue.
