Upcoming Litter Description
We are a family owned breeder focused on providing quality puppies to forever homes. We believe our puppies are more than pets, they are family. Liddy’s litter has been completely spoken for and going to families from coast to coast! We will be expecting our next litter to be around 03/01/27. Again, we focus on quality and we only breed our personal fur family members who live in our home. If you would like to be placed on our waiting list for our next litter, please send me your contact information. There is no obligation, just an opportunity to have first choice of the litter before the listing is posted. You can email me at revans1106@gmail.com or call/text me at 713-806-3235. I would also invite you to follow us on our FB page “Precious Portuguese.” Sincerely, Rodney and Celeste Evans

Breed overview
Portuguese Water Dog
A.K.A.: Cao de Agua Portugues, Cão d'Água Português, Cão de Água, Portuguese Waterdog, Water Dog, PWD, Portie, Portie Dog, Fisher Dog, Diving Dog, Portuguese Fishing Dog
Overview:
The Portuguese Water Dog, or PWD, is a fascinating and active breed originating from Portugal's Algarve region, where they historically assisted fishermen by herding fish into nets, retrieving lost tackle, and acting as couriers between boats. Physically, they are medium-sized dogs, known for their distinctive, non-shedding, wavy or curly coat, which can be black, brown, or white (or combinations). They possess a robust, muscular build and webbed feet, perfectly adapted for their aquatic heritage. Temperamentally, PWDs are intelligent, energetic, and loyal companions, thriving on mental and physical stimulation. They are generally good with children and other pets, making them excellent family dogs for active households, though their exercise needs make them less suitable for small apartments unless adequately walked and engaged. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of breed-specific concerns like hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), and juvenile cardiomyopathy.
