Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi, my name is Wendell. I am a 60 pound, young adult Standard Poodle and I’m looking for my forever home. Foster Mom says I’m fun and outgoing….. once I know you! I’ll also snuggle up to you as soon as I know you are friendly. But I’ve got a lot more pawsitives that I want you to know about. I am potty trained and only do my business outside. I am crate trained too. I also know sit, come, kennel/crate, wait and outside. Are you impressed yet? Foster Mom says I am “very, very smart”. I think it would be fun to do some additional training since I pick up on things so quickly. I’m food motivated, but it has to be the right food! I guess I’ll just have to show you which treats I like. But praise will always get you farther…. I just love to hear the words “good boy” come out of your mouth! I also do quite well on a leash. So, I’m told I don’t require a fenced in yard because I am willing to do my business on a leash. I do so love my walks. But here’s the deal, that means I would need multiple long walks every single day to get my energy out cuz I’m a goofy, bouncy boy, not a couch potato! If my forever family is active and likes to go for long walks or hikes, I’ll fit right in. I have met the cat that lives here. Foster Mom says I generally do well with cats, but I might need some supervision when I first meet them. I actually think it’s the cat that needs the supervision! My forever home doesn’t have to have a canine sibling if someone is home most of the time. It’s okay if it does, cuz I get along with all sizes of dogs as long as they are friendly. But my real focus is on my people. I love attention and will be right beside you all day if you let me…. lucky you if you’re a snuggler! I’m gonna love you, Wendell **Grooming - this dog's coat may have been neglected before arriving at Underdog and it can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as poodles and poodle mixes require daily brushing. Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average $150 per appointment. Adopters should be prepared for such expenses. Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog. Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves.
