The French Bulldog is low key and enjoys lots of activity. He's well suited for either family living or attaching to just one special person. He can be a great watchdog, although will bark only when there is a real need.

Beagles were former pack dogs, so they are very social and love being with their family and other animals. They've very gentle as long as they receive the love and devotion they deserve. They're also intelligent and quick, needing plenty of exercise.

Named for its use in the sport of bull baiting, the English bulldog seems to have originated in the British Isles sometime prior to the 13th century. One of the few references to the sport dates back to 1209, and talks about a butcher's dogs that chased a bull through the English town of Stamford. This pursuit so pleased the earl of the town that he inaugurated bull baiting as a sport in his domain. Today, the English bulldog makes a fine family pet. The AKC recognizes the breed simply as the bulldog.

The Golden Retriever has a great personality and is easy to train, making this one of America's favorite family pets. They are good hunting companions and also great with kids.

Labradoodle

The Labradoodle is a mix between the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle. Both breeds are excellent for children and families. The Labradoodle became known in 1988, when Australian breeder Wally Conron crossed the Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle at the Royal Guide Dogs Associations of Australia in Victoria. Conron's aim was to combine the low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the gentleness and trainability of the Labrador, and to provide a guide dog suitable for people with allergies to fur and dander. Sultan, a dog from this litter, displayed all the qualities Conron was seeking and worked as a guide dog for a woman in Hawaii for ten years. Although Guide Dogs Victoria no longer breed Labradoodles, they are bred by other guide and assistance dog organizations in Australia and other places. The Association for the Blind of Western Australia has introduced Labradoodles into their training program, and their first, Jonnie, graduated in November 2010. Labradoodles are now widely used around the world as guide, assistance, and therapy dogs as well as being popular family dogs. The Norwegian Royal Crown Prince and Princess own a Labradoodle.

Bordoodle

The Bordoodle is a cross between an Border Collie and a Poodle (Standard). The Bordoodle is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Border Collie and a Poodle (Standard). Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Bordoodle are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. The Pomeranian is a very inquisitive dog. He's intelligent and trains well. Moreover, he's quite wary of strangers, so may serve as a great ' though tiny ' watch dog.

The Shih Tzu is a sweet and playful family companion. He's bolder than his small size suggests, but gets along well with strangers and other animals.
