Description
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Helen is a very sweet girl. Her EDOB is 7/2010 and she weighs 35 lbs. She is up to date on all of her shots and she is fixed. Helen is Ok with some people but she can be nervous around people that she does not know. Helen does vocalize a bit and is only suited for a large home with a large backyard as she has a very high energy level and needs to run around. She has some issues with accidents in the house and has issues with walking on a leash. She does not do well with cats, kids, or other dogs and has to be the only animal in a home. Helen has minor chronic skin issue which does require weekly medication to help. We do not have a central location to see our dogs. Meeting any dog is by appointment ONLY currently. Appointments can be set up to meet any dog in San Diego. Currently we are unable to do any out-of-state adoptions. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
