Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). How to Adopt Bennie is a 7 year old, black and white husky with brown eyes. My foster dad describes me as a great doggie that loves humans and just has to be with him for walks and outings! I am an active husky and willing to listen and learn new things. I have a grin that fits my personality! I love the girl doggies, but am more selective about my male dog friends, so I would love a home as either a single loving guy, or perhaps a calm doggy female that can help me become my best self! My foster dad says he is willing to have our fabulous trainer help with some training for me so I can learn how my humans become great “Bennie” owners! If you would love to meet me, please contact my foster dad, Steve, at 505-264-2514 TODAY!

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
