Posted Breed: Hound / Terrier / Mixed. *Name: Bronco *Age: 1 year *Current Weight: 55 pounds *Rescued from: Texas (currently located with foster in Texas, transport will be scheduled once adopted.) *Adoption fee: $375 (plus $150 spay/neuter deposit, see below for more information) Bronco is a 1.5-year-old brown and black hound mix with a heart of gold. He is a playful and affectionate dog who loves to be around people and other dogs. Bronco is an energetic dog who enjoys long walks and outdoor activities. He is also very social and loves to play with other dogs. He has a gentle and friendly personality and is always eager to meet new people and make new friends. Bronco is a quick learner and is eager to please his humans. He has already mastered basic obedience commands and is always up for learning new tricks. Bronco is also a great companion for children. He is gentle and patient, and loves to play with kids of all ages. He would be a great addition to any family looking for a loving and loyal dog. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
