Description
Posted Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 100. Good morning to all of my Releashed Rescue fans! My name is Onyx and I wanted to give you a little update on my life. I’m not the same dog I was when I arrived at Releashed a little over a month ago. I’ve gone from scared and angry to happy and goofy! I enjoy spending my mornings drinking coffee on the patio with my foster mom. And yes, if you leave your coffee on my level, we’re definitely sharing it. I’m a major bed hog, but I had never had a bed of my own before. I’m coming around to liking my foster siblings. They definitely get on my nerves from time to time, but what siblings don’t? Am I right? I am OBSESSED with “Chuck-it” balls. I will play with it for hours and I’m not going to share it, don’t even ask. I’m also a pro counter-surfer. My foster mom acts like that’s a bad thing, but I’m so good at it. I don’t understand why she isn’t impressed? My ideal home would have a lot of structure. I do better with routine. I am a BIG fan of little dogs. But mostly, I just want to lay around and cuddle most of the day.

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
