Description
Posted Breed: Terrier. Say hello to the stubby legged cutie Brian. Brian and his siblings were feral puppies when they joined the AAVA family in May. They have made huge strides and are coming along nicely so it's time for them to find their forever family. Brian still gets slightly nervous when things are loud or fast moving, but with time he will get more and more comfortable. Brian is mostly potty trained but still has accidents. He is dog friendly, small animal friendly, and kid friendly. Brian is learning humans are amazing and learning to trust. He loves to be petted on his terms and is starting to come up to his foster mom for affection. He had a really bad case of mange and ringworm but he is almost completely healed. Brian is going to be a remarkable dude as he gets more and more confident.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
