Description
Posted Breed: Jack Russell Terrier (Parson Russell Terrier) / Mixed (medium coat). *This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Duncan! After 13 years, senior gentleman Duncan finds himself in a sad spot: he needs a new home because his parents divorced and left him behind. Fortunately, Angels 4 Paws Animal Rescue stepped up to provide Duncan with a loving foster home! Duncan is described as a sweet, mellow boy who happily accepts attention and affection from every person he meets. He enjoys going for walks around the block but otherwise naps throughout the day. He does well with the other dogs in his foster home and eats nicely alongside them at mealtime. Duncan has a few health issues common to seniors, including arthritis and an enlarged heart. His recent lab work came back as normal. If you are interested in giving Duncan a cozy retirement home, please contact Holly at Angels4Paws Animal Rescue by phone or text at 305-798-3523 or email hollyangels4paws.us *Frosted Faces Foundation has not assessed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
