Description
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (short coat). Meet Gregg! Gregg was found with two other dogs at a park in San Bernardino by a Good Samaritan He took them to San Bernardino Shelter for medical care and to be claimed. Sadly, one of the dogs was in such poor condition that he passed away soon after arriving at the shelter, but Gregg and his surviving friend Garvey (since adopted) became Frosted Faces on October 14th. Gregg is around 12 years old and weighs 58 lbs. Although his condition suggests Gregg lived outside or without attentive care for some time, he is such a sweet boy! He is part of an extra special group of Frosted Faces that live in our lobby so we can make sure they are super comfortable and receive lots of TLC. Being a "lobbyist" means Gregg is good with other dogs and enjoys being a greeter to everyone who comes through our doors. He loves laying on the big cozy beds in our lobby, and he doesn't mind when a Frosted friend curls up next to him! Gregg went on a two-week Frosted Fling, his first time in a home after who knows how long! His Fling Mom reports: “Gregg encouraged him to eat by adding treats, cheese or some chicken to his bowl. The first few days he did not eat much, but as he grew more comfortable he ate more. He was not food aggressive. I moved the bowl while he was eating, and he was fine. Gregg enjoyed being outside. He would spend time in the bushes of the backyard. When we would take him for walks in the neighborhood, he liked to sniff. But he did not mark at all. When we walked him in the neighborhood he only saw a few dogs. He did not bark or react. Once he got to know us and became more comfortable he would follow us around the house. He was curious about the front door and garage. He was very quiet, and we never heard him bark. The first few days, you could tell Gregg was scared. We gave him space, and he eventually allowed me to pet his whole body. I would start at his head, and he would lean into me. It was very sweet. Gregg needs time to adjust. He sometimes is stiff and falls when he gets up from laying down. I think this is related to his arthritis. Allowing him to get up in his own is the best approach. Gregg is pretty low-key and likes to nap. He definitely likes his treats. He likes to help in the kitchen when we’re cooking or cleaning the dishes. He is very inquisitive. Gregg is back on-site, and we miss him already. We hope he finds his forever family quickly.” Gregg deserves a loving home where he will be pampered and adored.
