Description
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). *This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Zoya! 10-year-old Zoya needs a loving home where to spend her golden years. After her dad passed away 1.5 years ago, the family was out of options and would have taken her to the shelter. That was a death sentence, so the rescue stepped in to prevent that, but Zoya has been at a boarding facility ever since waiting to be adopted. She is safe there, but deserves so much more! Zoya loyally stayed by her dad's side as his health declined, and now she needs someone to be devoted to her. Do you have it in your heart to give a sweet senior girl a cozy place to retire? Zoya is described as a "great and loyal dog, a protector, and a sassy lady." She has encountered numerous dogs living at the kennel and does well with all sizes. She would appreciate a quiet home with adults. She is in good health with low-key energy. One of the advantages of adopting a mature dog is that she isn't rambunctious and just strolls around the yard happily. Zoya also knows how to use a doggie door. Fun fact: Zoya understands Russian, because that was what her dad spoke! Please consider giving Zoya a home; she asks for so little! A soft bed, a yard to wander around in, and your love. To learn more about her, please contact Renee at 661-733-4188 or Dancingsunlandscapesgmail *Frosted Faces Foundation has not assessed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
