Description
Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat). *This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Gweezer! 5 year heeler Gweezer and her brother, 14 year old lab mix Poona, need a loving new home because their dad is moving to an assisted living facility and cannot take them with him. Gweezer is in excellent health, and although senior Poona counts hanging out on the porch among his favorite past-times, he is still up for fun adventures! They both enjoy going for walks and wandering around their yard. Poona and Gweezer are used to being around other dogs and horses and do well with both. Their dad hopes Gweezer and Poona can be adopted together given their close relationship. They are best friends that are accustomed to eating, sleeping, and spending their days together. If you have room in your heart and home for this special duo, please contact William at wwbockjrwebmail.us *Frosted Faces Foundation has not assessed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
