Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Hi, I’m Starla, but you can call me Starlight. It’s like a stage name for the beaming light that emanates from my beautiful black coat. I’m a playful kind of gal with a very loving side. My favorite sport is tug of war. If you have a rope we can have a grand time! As for toys, you can bet a stuffed squeaky will get my attention. I also play ball, but don’t expect me to give it back! I haven’t learned that trick yet, but you can work with me. I’m a pretty smart gal. So, if you are looking for a loving, active dog that will also curl up by you and keep you company, please come visit me! Remember, it’s Starlight Starla! If you're interested in adopting one of our animals please put in an application at: petstablished/adoption_form/25348/generic

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
