Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 185.00. Tippy is a wonderful dog! Her nickname here (and what we call her) is Paws. Because she talks with her paws. It is the cutest thing! She was the shyest of the liter and took a while for her to trust people. But boy, oh boy is she a little social butterfly now. She is very loving and wants to be near people. Loves her snuggle time. She is potty and kennel trained. Still learning basic commands but she is picking it up fast. Her favorite thing is to play outside and sunbathe, but enjoys couch time too. She is pretty low key but has her zoomie moments. She does well with all dogs of any size. Her favorite treats are cold watermelon, apple slices and whip cream straight from the can! Tippy has never shown any aggression towards other dogs or people. She would make a great additional to any family of any ages.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
