Description
Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (long coat). Meet Wally! Wally came to us from the San Diego Humane Society on December 22nd. He is around 8 years old and weighs 21 lbs. Wally is good with cats, others dogs, and enjoys playing with toys! Shortly after Wally arrived, he was scooped up for a two-week Frosted Fling. He earned rave reviews from his Fling Family! They report: "Wally is so sweet and easy. He loves his walks, and that is when you see his personality comes out! He does bark at other dogs when we walk but basically ignores my cat and dog at home. Wally sleeps a lot and is happy to be next to you on the couch or in a dog bed in the same room. He is perfectly house-trained and holds it all night with no issues. After a week with us, Wally started following me when I change rooms, which is so sweet. We love him so much and hope he finds a forever home soon!" Wally is currently on his second Fling, but he is still on the lookout for his forever family! Might that be you? Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
