Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). To apply to adopt, please email littlebigdogrescue.25gmail for an Adoption Application. Rosie is the Lauren Bacall of dogs. Tall, slim, composed, attractive. She is in very good health but is arthritic. Rosie's hearing and vision are 100%. Rosie is largely a couch potato. She loves lying outside in the warmth of the sun, and loves napping indoors on cold or wet days. She would be a great companion for someone who works at home. Rosie cannot take long walks, but her arthritis is managed with pain meds and she is not in any stress. Rosie is 12 years old and weighs about 65 pounds. She is low-maintenance and low-activity. She is moderately affectionate. Underneath her self-sufficient exterior is a dog whose heart beats with joy when she experiences the love of a human. Adoption fees are $250 unless otherwise stated. Senior dog adoption fees are $200. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest. Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
