Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Click Here to Sponsor Me! Adoption APPLICATION: Muttsinneed/adoption-application ** Application must be completed prior to a meet & greet. Our Adoption Process:Muttsinneed/adoption-process 2024 is the year we do better and advocate for our dogs because dogs like Kaia deserve better. Kaia is a young 40lb German Shepherd. She came from Central Valley, CA after her owners used her to breed with their male shepherd but due to complications, ended up wanting to dump her at the shelter. Kaia came to us pregnant and sick. The worst part was, she was suffering a miscarriage with her puppies and unfortunately none of them made it. We don’t want you to feel bad for Kaia, because she’s safe with us now but we do want you to feel angry that people would even do this to her and understand why we promote spaying and neutering your pet. Kaia only knows love and despite what she’s been through, she is an absolute sweetheart with a great personality. She is great with people and dogs and is learning to enjoy being a dog again with her foster dog siblings. If you’d like to give the greatest gift to Kaia and be her forever family, apply at .muttsinneed/adoption-application.html

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
