Description
Posted Breed: Hound / Terrier / Mixed. Cleo is Charles’ stunning sister! They look so much a like and are very similar in personalities but Cleo is learning that people are pretty good to have around, especially when they bring treats! Like her brother, Charles, Cleo does well with other nice dogs with proper introductions and would probably love a home with a canine brother or sister. She is learning how to walk on a leash and she easily gives a happy play bow and a tail wag if she knows you. Cleo would likely do best in an all-adult home, that’s quiet, structured and has patience is in abundance. If you are interested in helping Charles and giving him a chance, please contact the shelter for more information. Cleo’s future is really looking bright and the right home will let her shine bright! Cleo will need multiple meet and greets. If you're interested in adopting one of our animals please put in an application at: petstablished/adoption_form/25348/generic

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
