Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Hello there, my name is Olive! I’m a darling 3.5-year-old female Heeler mix with a whole lot of love to share. I’m about 46 lbs, which my foster mom says is the perfect “adventure size.” I’m house trained, crate trained, and walk well on a leash with the right type of lead. I can be a little shy with new people at first, but once I feel safe and know you’re my person, I’ll be the most loyal and loving companion you could ask for. I get along wonderfully with other dogs and really enjoy having buddies to play with. Fetch and stuffy toys are my absolute favorites, and I’m always happy to show off my goofy and playful side. I’m active and adventurous when you’re in the mood to get outside, but I also settle down beautifully and genuinely love curling up for snuggles. My foster mom says I’m a certified professional little spoon, and I take that job very seriously. I’ve met a few cats too — I’m curious about them but not aggressive, so with the right introductions I could coexist just fine. I’m so excited to find my forever family! If you think I could be the girl for you. Apply to meet me today: bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
