Description
Dog Breed: Yellow Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Lucas got his wires crossed a little bit and seems to think he's a cat! A dog-loving cat, that is. He is great with others of all ages and would thrive with a confident dog to guide him in a home. He is a very quiet and calm boy with really nice manners and a love of treats. But, cat-like, he prefers to live in the background. He might follow you and observe your goings on...or not. He's not a cuddle bug and will move off under too much social pressure. So he is looking for a calm home full of respect for his true, somewhat feline, nature. ***Our pups don't tell us who their parents are - BREED is a GUESS*** ~ Est DOB: May 2022 ~ Est weight: 48# ~ Adoption details: calhouncountyhs.blogspot/p/adopt.html

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
