Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat). Leroy – Your One and Only Fostered in Argos, IN | ~2 years old | Medium-sized Australian Cattle Dog Leroy is the total package—affectionate, playful, and incredibly loyal. He LOVES cuddling up on the couch, snuggling into warm blankets fresh from the dryer, and rubbing his face on yours when he wants attention. He’s a squeaky ball fanatic and has completed obedience classes, proving he’s smart and eager to please. He enjoys short walks, rides well in the car, and has excellent house manners. But most importantly, Leroy needs to be the only dog in the home. While he’s a sweet, friendly guy with people (ask his vet team!), he’s happiest and most relaxed when he doesn’t have to share his space with other dogs. Leroy would thrive in a calm, adult-only home—perhaps with a single person or a couple—who’s looking for a devoted companion to shower with love. If you’ve been waiting for that one special dog to be your best friend, Leroy might just be the one.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
