Description
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Thumper is thought to be around 1 yr old Shepherd mix and around 40-45 lbs. He is very leggy but should be filling in these next couple months. He is still a growing pup and will be closer to 50 lbs full grown. He is great with dogs his size and a little larger-others shouldn't be a problem though. He loves to play with other dogs. Another doggie sibling in his forever home would help with all his puppy energy. He is okay on a leash, but prefers a fenced yard given his higher energy. He is not big on toys. He is a very in your pocket dog- Thrives on praise and food motivated. He is a smart pup, knows sit and to give paw, and working on down. He is very trainable. Looking for a top shelf cuddle buddy? You got'em- he loves your lap or being beside you on the couch. He is such a sweet boy. He is housebroken and somewhat crate trained-doesn't care for long term crating, at least not yet, but we are working on it. He should be fine with older kids due to size and energy. If Thumper sounds like the balanced active yet cuddle bug dog you want, apply for him at .pawsacrosspittsburgh/adopt. He is available now through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA 15144, KL#16182

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
